The Bachelorette: Colton has plenty to say about Tia and Becca

Colton Underwood says he was “pissed off” when The Bachelorette Becca Kufrin sent him home, and has plenty to say about his relationship with Tia Booth.

When Tia Booth showed up during Bachelorette Becca Kufrin’s hometown dates episode, it was clear Colton Underwood would be the next guy to go home. Now Colton is speaking out about his departure from the show and his feeling about Tia.

Was he surprised Tia showed up for a second time this season? And does he blame Tia for his departure during the hometown dates rose ceremony? Here’s what Colton has to say about his Bachelorette experience and his relationship with Tia.

When Tia showed up before the hometown dates rose ceremony, she told Becca she still had feelings for Colton. It appeared to help Becca make up her mind about who she should send home.

Although producers hyped up the Becca-Colton-Tia “love” triangle, we didn’t see a connection between the Bachelorette star and the former NFL player. Instead, it Colton seemed to be going through the motions to stay on the show. Of course, we may be wrong — maybe there was more to his relationship than what fans saw on TV.

Whatever happened, Colton tried to explain the situation when he made an appearance on Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti‘s Almost Famous podast last week.

Colton told Ben and Ashley he thought the whole Tia thing was in the past and was “blindsided” and “pissed off” when Becca sent him home. But, he’s not 100% sure Tia was the sole reason Becca dumped him.

“I don’t know if we can completely say my future with Becca was ended 100 percent on Tia. I’m sure that was a heavy portion of why my future with Becca was ended, so yeah, of course I was sad. I was disappointed, I was frustrated, I was pissed off … I had nothing to say because I was so caught off guard.”

Throughout the Becca’s season, producers have tried to convince fans that Colton was in a relationship with Tia before he joined The Bachelorette cast.

But that’s NOT the cast, according to Colton. He tells Ben and Ashley that he had a fun weekend with Tia, but it wasn’t enough to convince him she was “the one.”

“So this all started off of her [Tia] direct messaging me about El from Stranger Things and we casually started talking, exchanged numbers, FaceTimed,” Colton told Ben and Ashley. “The second day that I talked to her, I actually disclosed to her that I was a finalist for the show and I was probably going on the show.”

Colton and Tia met in L.A. one month later. Colton said it was a great weekend, but it wasn’t enough to keep him off The Bachelorette.

“We went hiking at Runyon Canyon with rescue puppies and we went out to a steak dinner … It was a great date, great weekend, but I just left there knowing that she’s going back to Arkansas and I’m going back to Denver. We had somewhat of a spark, somewhat of a connection, but there just wasn’t enough for me to say, ‘Hey, this is my person. I’m closing all my options out.”

Off to Paradise

Both Colton and Tia will appear on the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise. Filming wrapped several weeks ago and it didn’t take long for spoilers about Paradise couples to leak out online.
