Since its premiere nearly 20 years ago back in 2005, the Dancing with the Stars ballroom has welcomed some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment. We’ve seen Oscar and Grammy winners, Super Bowl champions, Olympic gold medalists, reality TV stars, legends of their industry, models, and true American heroes take to the dance floor to master the art of ballroom dancing all in hopes of taking home the Mirrorball Trophy.

Over those 32 seasons, there have been 32 lucky celebrities who entered the competition with little to no dance experience at all who stole the hearts of America and the judges with their showstopping routines. Of course, there have been some controversial winners over the years and some shocking upsets, but that’s the magic of Dancing with the Stars, it all comes down to the fans and who they hope to see win!

DANCING WITH THE STARS – “Finale” – It all comes down to this as four celebrity and pro-dancer couples return to the ballroom to compete and win the Mirrorball trophy on the 11th and final week of the 2019 season of “Dancing with the Stars,” live, MONDAY, NOV. 25 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EST), on ABC. The first celebrity to ever win Dancing with the Stars was General Hospital star Kelly Monaco who took home the Mirrorball Trophy way back in 2005 during the show’s first season. In the years that have passed since nearly three dozen Dancing with the Stars winners have been crowned with winners from all walks of life!

While an actress was the first to win the trophy, athletes have faired incredibly well on the show over the years with 12 Dancing with the Stars winners being star athletes from the worlds of football, basketball, and the Olympics.

The latest celebrity to take home the Mirrorball Trophy was Marvel star Xochitl Gomez who took home the win with pro Val Chmerkovskiy! Xochitl and Val bested runner-ups Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach in one of the tightest seasons in recent years!

Derek Hough has won the most DWTS Mirrorball Trophies

There have been 32 celebrities to win the Mirrorball Trophy but only 19 pros have actually won the show as pro dancers! Of the group, Derek Hough has taken home the mirror ball the most of any pro dancer on the show with an impressive six wins during his time as a pro on the show. Given the impact he had as a pro and his winning streak, it makes sense that ABC tapped Derek to be a judge on the show’s panel as he definitely knows what it takes to win the show.

Derek actually has twice as many wins as the second most-winning pros on the show: Mark Ballas and Val Chmerkovskiy who have taken home the Mirrorball three times over the years. Val joined the three-time winner club in season 32 when he took home his third Mirrorball with partner Xochitl Gomez!

Here’s how the rest of the Dancing with the Stars pros stack up against their peers as the most winning pros on the cast:

  1. Derek Hough: 6 wins
  2. Mark Ballas and Val Chmerkovskiy: 3 wins each
  3. Cheryl Burke, Julianne Hough, Kym Johnson, and Peta Murgatroyd: 2 wins each.
  4. Lindsay Arnold, Alan Bersten, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Artem Chigvintsev, Tony Dovolani, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, Alec Mazo, Emma Slater, and Karina Smirnoff: 1 win each
