Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe talks about giving her engagement ring back

It’s been three years since Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth got engaged on The Bachelorette. Now she’s talking about giving her engagement ring back.

Former Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe got engaged to Shawn Booth in 2015 and they have been living together ever since. Now, three years after Shawn put a Neil Lane diamond ring on Kaitlyn’s finger, she’s thinking about giving it back.

And no, Kaitlyn doesn’t have to give the ring back to ABC. Couples who stay together for two years past the finale get to keep the ring. Instead, she wants to give it back to Shawn in hopes that he will propose and finally plan a wedding. Plans that Kaitlyn says are “going backwards.”

Before you start saying, “I knew they’d never last!” — keep reading.

Last weekend, Kaitlyn attended the Sterling Vineyards RoséFest in Napa Valley (CA). Shawn was out doing his fitness thing at a fitness boot camp in New England.

It’s okay. They don’t have to be glued to each other 24/7.

During her time at the wine-fest, Kaitlyn talked to Us Weekly about her relationship with Shawn. She admitted that their wedding planning is “going backwards.”

Kaitlyn went on to say that she’s thought about giving her ring back to Shawn so he could propose unexpectedly. (vs. the made-for-TV proposals on The Bachelorette!)

“I feel like we are going backwards! I feel like we’ve talked about him re-proposing because sometimes I don’t even want to wear a ring anymore cause I want him to have it just so he can surprise me …So yeah, I’ve thought about giving the ring back to Shawn so that he could use it to propose when the time comes!”

Babies may come sooner than a wedding

So, no, we’re not expecting Kaitlyn and Shawn to break up anytime soon. In fact, she said that having kids is a top priority.

“We always tell everybody that we talk more about kids and a family more than a wedding,” Kaitlyn told Us. “We know we want them in the next few years.”

Hey, if the relationship is working and Kaitlyn and Shawn are happy, does a wedding really matter? They’re doing things their at their own pace vs. the forced Bachelorette relationships that often lead to a speedy breakup.
