Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe reveals final rose secret during Off the Vine podcast

Kaitlyn Bristowe planned a totally different outcome on her season of the Bachelorette but producers didn’t play along.

More than two years have passed since Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth got engaged on the Bachelorette. Now Kaitlyn is speaking out about the outcome of the show and how it didn’t go as she had planned.

Kaitlyn recently launched her podcast, Off the Vine, one of many podcasts run by Bachelor and Bachelorette alum. She shared some interesting scoop about her season, namely the fact that she didn’t want Nick Viall to be the runner-up.

Wait … what??

Yes, she’s still happily engaged to Shawn Booth. So, don’t think for a minute that she wanted Nick to get her final rose. That’s not what happened.

Instead, Kaitlyn explains that she wanted Ben Higgins to be the runner-up because she knew Nick would be hurt.

“I knew it was going to be Shawn, and in the last little while,” Kaitlyn stated during her podcast. Oh, this is a big secret. I wanted my final two to be Ben and Shawn because I knew I would hurt Nick.”

Awww…she was looking out for Nick’s feelings. Nice, right?

Kaitlyn says she knew she was going to pick Shawn. Although Ben ended up coming in third place, she apparently felt he was better suited to get rejected during the final rose ceremony. Maybe she knew that Ben would take rejection better because they didn’t have a romantic connection.

If you’re a die-hard fan of the Bachelor/Bachelorette, you know producers want drama. They will find a way to create a storyline even if it doesn’t exist. That’s what they get paid for.

Kaitlyn hints that producers didn’t allow Ben to be the runner-up. She doesn’t come out and say that’s what happened, but it’s not hard to read between the lines.

But I couldn’t because then apparently it would’ve been boring, my season,” Kaitlyn said during her podcast. “At that point I was like, ‘Whatever, it was going to be Shawn.’”

At least she ended up with the guy she wanted. Although she admits they are too busy and disorganized to plan a wedding, they are heading to Las Vegas soon, so many they’ll tie the knot there. Time will tell but they seem to have a great relationship, so why mess with success.
