Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe issues statement about relationship with Shawn Booth

Former Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe got engaged to Shawn Booth three years ago. Now she’s speaking out about their relationship.

For months, Bachelorette fans have been buzzing about Kaitlyn and Shawn’s relationship. Kaitlyn’s engagement ring has been non-existent in photos, she’s spending quite a bit of time in Canada, and it’s been weeks since they’ve posted a cute couple photo on social media.

While social media isn’t always an indicator of someone’s relationship status, in the reality TV world, it’s often a signal that things aren’t going well. Now Kaitlyn is speaking out about the status of her relationship with Shawn, a statement that starts off with, “Here’s the truth …”

First, let’s address the ring situation

Bachelor/Bachelorette couples must stay together for two consecutive years to keep the Neil Lane ring. They don’t have to get married, but they must stay engaged.

Considering Kaitlyn and Shawn have been engaged for three years, so they own the ring and can do whatever they want with it. Keep it on, take it off, sell it … whatever.

Two months ago, Kaitlyn told Us Weekly their wedding planning was “going backwards” and she was thinking about giving Shawn her ring so he could surprise her with another proposal.

“I feel like we are going backwards! I feel like we’ve talked about him re-proposing because sometimes I don’t even want to wear a ring anymore  … I’ve thought about giving the ring back to Shawn so that he could use it to propose when the time comes!”

Kaitlyn’s engagement ring has been noticeably missing in photos. So, did she follow through and give it back? Or is it a signal that a breakup statement is coming soon? Here’s what Kaitlyn has to say.

Kaitlyn speaks out about her relationship with Shawn

Kaitlyn released her most recent Off the Vine podcast on Thursday (August 16). She addressed the breakup rumors head on.

“So here’s the truth. I’m in Canada because every single year I have made a promise to myself and my family that I will come up every August and enjoy downtime with the people that I love in a country that I love … Shawn did not come up with me because the guy just bought a gym. He bought a business … He’s gonna have to be there for months … We are both so busy and unfortunately that means we’re spending all of this time apart.”

Kaitlyn went on to say that when people run a successful brand or business, “sometimes the relationship isn’t being put first, but does that mean you call it quits? No … you work through it  … and you know that times aren’t always going to be smooth sailing.”

Kaitlyn confirmed in her podcast that they are “still together” and are 110 percent committed to each other.

Okay, so we get it. People get busy and relationships are sometimes put on the back burner. It happens.

But … trying not to be pessimistic here, but we’re not totally convinced that a breakup is not on the horizon. Time will tell.
