Bachelor contestant Bekah Martinez didn’t find love on Arie’s season, but she did end up with an empty wallet after buying a wardrobe for the show.

The odds of finding love on the Bachelor or the Bachelorette are slim, but you still have to put your best foot forward. That means buying clothes, shoes, and accessories for dates and rose ceremonies that could take place in warm or cold climates.

Some contestants spend more than others to make their reality TV debut, including Bekah Martinez, who was a contestant on Arie’s season of The Bachelor. And now she’s dishing on how the wardrobe she purchased left her broke.

Going broke for love

Although Bekah says she’s now paying her bills with money she makes promoting products on Instagram, she was totally broke after she appeared on The Bachelor.

Not only do contestants have to bring an extensive wardrobe, many have to leave their jobs knowing there is the potential to film the show for as long as two months.

Bekah says producers told her to bring eight weeks’ worth of clothing just in case they made it to the final rose ceremony.

Fortunately, she borrowed some clothes, but after quitting her job as a nanny, she still had to fork over quite a bit of money for clothing and accessories.

“I probably spent about $700 or $800 on that stuff, but when I got back to Los Angeles, I was so broke I returned everything that still had tags on,” Becca said during a recent interview with Glamour.

“Some of the girls who didn’t have the resources to borrow things from showrooms or friends probably spent a significant amount of money — at least a couple thousand, easily. You need a pretty extensive wardrobe.”

It appears that Bekah has rebounded on the positive side now that she’s making money as a social media influencer.

And that money will come in handy ‚— in few weeks, she’ll be jetting off to Mexico to film Bachelor in Paradise. At least a wardrobe of bikinis, shorts, and summer dresses will be cheaper!
