The Bachelorette trashes Arie in Becca Kufrin’s first promo video

The season premiere of The Bachelorette is less than a month away and ABC wants fans to know Becca is totally over Arie Luyendyk, Jr.

The Bachelorette Becca Kufrin’s first promo video was released during Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars premiere. If you didn’t catch the 30-second spot, scroll down to watch.

I’m just a wee bit disappointed that ABC didn’t show us any footage from Becca’s season — like the guys fighting over her or something dramatic like that. Instead, they tried to convince fans that Becca has quickly moved on from her brief engagement to Arie and she’s now an independent woman.

Arie gets ripped (up)

Apparently, there was no better way to show how quickly Becca fell out of love than to have her rip up a giant paper heart with Arie’s face on it. Creative!

Okay, I get it. They were engaged for a few weeks, their on-screen breakup was uncomfortable. Arie says he did that so she could get the Bachelorette gig.

Give the guy some credit, please. He helped her get a high-paying dating gig.

Now she’s an independent woman…

I’m not knocking Becca — she seems like a great catch. Maybe she did fall for Arie after going on a few dates.

But ripping up a paper heart and awkwardly dancing to Kesha’s song “Woman” is a little over-the-top.

Producers obviously had to replace the lyrics (“I’m a motherf**king woman”) with “I’m an independent woman” to keep it PG.

It’s just hard to justify the word “independent” when you start dating 25+ guys on a reality TV show just a few weeks after a shocking, dramatic, and gut-wrenching breakup.

Then again, it’s 2018 and anything is possible.

The Bachelorette kicks off its 14th season on May 28 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Tune in to see if she falls in love or walks away as an independent woman!
