Bachelor Arie opens up about Jef Holm feud: ‘There is a little bit of jealousy’

Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr and Jef Holm became fast friends during Emily’s season of the Bachelorette, but that’s not the case anymore. Here’s why…

Arie Luyendyk and  Jef Holm became close friends during Bachelor Emily Maynard’s season. After Emily and Jef broke off their engagement in 2012, Arie and Jef’s friendship continued until it ended abruptly during Sean and Catherine’s 2014 wedding.

When ABC announced Arie as the 2018 Bachelor, Jef made it clear that he isn’t a fan of the 36-year-old race car driver. He took to Twitter to call Arie “disgusting” and followed up his tweet with an offer to give $5,000 to charity if Arie stays with his final pick for a year. Now Arie is opening up about their failed friendship and why he thinks jealousy is an issue.

Arie recently joined Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti’s on their Almost Famous Podcast to talk about his season of the Bachelor. He also talked about Jef Holm and what went down at Sean and Catherine’s wedding. (listen to the entire podcast below)

Wedding day fight

Apparently, Jef took a girl to the wedding (who!?) and Arie didn’t like how Jef was treating her. They go into a fight that involved Bachelor producers and that was the last time they spoke.

“We had Sean’s wedding, you know, he brought a date, and I feel he handled the situation badly with his date and he didn’t treat that person right,” Arie told Ashley and Ben. “And I spoke out, and then he got into a fight with myself and a few of the producers, and that was the last time we talked.”

More from Accept This Rose

Hey, maybe that’s why Jef has never been invited to Paradise and wasn’t asked to be part of the Winter Games cast. We just want to know if punches were thrown or if it was all verbal. Could be entertaining. Or not.

Arie isn’t quite sure why, almost 4 years after Sean and Catherine’s wedding, Jef is still throwing shade at him. The only thing he can come up with is jealousy.

After all, Jef was a final rose winner, hangs out with guys from other seasons (Robby, Chase), and hasn’t been asked to appear on a single Bachelor-related show.

Arie got dumped, went off to do his own thing (okay, he dated Courtney Robertson), and, five years later, gets the Bachelor gig.

I don’t really feel he knows the man that I am, and I don’t know why the shade’s been thrown,” Arie said. “And so, I don’t know, I think maybe there is a little bit of jealousy. I don’t know.”
