Many fans were disappointed when Peter Kraus turned down the Bachelor gig, but he has no regrets.

It doesn’t matter how hard Chris Harrison tries to convince us otherwise, Arie Luyendyk Jr was a last-minute pick for the Bachelor. Producers had their sights set on Peter Kraus, the runner-up from Rachel Lindsay’s season of the Bachelorette, but the deal fell apart shortly before filming was scheduled to start.

Almost five months after he turned down a chance to hand out roses, Peter says he is glad he is not The Bachelor. And while he’s very happy that he decided against a second run at finding love on TV, he does feel bad for Arie. Especially when it comes to some fans calling the 36-year-old race car driver “Not Peter.”

‘It’s a world I’m happy without’

During an interview with Us Weekly, Peter talked about the Arie and how getting the gig last-minute “stacked the cards against him.”  And, to top it off, some people are still calling him “Not Peter.”

“I feel kind of bad for him,” Peter said. “He got kind of pushed into a pressure situation last minute it sounds like and I mean he’s already got kind of like cards stacked against him going into a situation like that. To then be added on to that, not even being called by his own name, that’s got to be tough.”

Peter, who is currently in New York City promoting the social networking app, Hive Social, agrees that it’s exciting being in the spotlight.

However, he says that the amount of pressure Arie is under, including showing up on the cover of every tabloid magazine, is a “world he’s happy without.”

“He’s [Arie] all over the place, and people have their opinions of him and I don’t know. It’s a world that I am happy without … I mean, being in the spotlight if you will, it’s exciting. I’m not going to lie. Walking past a magazine and seeing myself in a little tiny picture in the corner, it’s interesting. But, I don’t know. It’s not something that I need to get fulfillment in my life.”
