The thing that The Bachelor fans loved most about Katie Thurston when we first met her on season 25 was her ability to stand up for herself and her willingness to stand up for what’s right.

It’s good to see that she still holds on to these virtues as the leading lady of The Bachelorette season 17 because, after last night’s episode, criticisms about who she is and what she stands for are starting to flood in.

For context,

The Bachelorette

season 17

episode 2

featured the men trying to woo Katie with sexy performances. Some men were more reserved, but for the most part, many contestants were able to match Katie’s straightforwardness when it came to sex.

All in all, it was light fun but what should’ve been a hilarious memory for Katie was met with disdain as she received a not-so-nice message on

her Instagram

criticizing

The Bachelorette

star for her openness to talk about her sexuality. Even still, she’s absolutely not holding her tongue back anytime soon as she once again stood up for what’s right.

Katie Thurston responds to hater online

During the episode, Katie Thurston shared a screenshot of the Instagram DM that believed that she should withhold from talking about sex so much in her season. The person sending the message also went on to state that Katie wouldn’t be a good role model for young girls between the ages of 13 to 17. You can see Katie’s response in her tweet below.

“This is the best age to talk about sex,” Katie wrote on Twitter. “Sex isn’t a taboo topic. It’s normal and natural. Chances are your teenager will engage in sexual activities so you might as well have an open conversation with them about it and offer a safe space for them to receive guidance and support.”

The tweet went on to garner tons of support from fans who also believed that sex education is extremely important and shouldn’t be a conversation that we as a society avoid.

It’s always good to see a Bachelorette with such a strong set of values, and every day we’re reminded why we loved Katie so much in the first place. You go, Katie!
