2. He’s turning 27 this year

That’s right, when it comes to Bachelor statistics, Colton Underwood is a bit of a baby. The new leading man was born on January 26, 1992, which means he’ll be turning 27 in just a few days.

Fans of recent seasons have probably noticed that the Bachelor has been getting older and older. This is especially interesting when you note that the ladies of the show are staying pretty young. Remember cute little Bekah Martinez, who was a whopping fourteen years younger than her Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk, Jr.? This is an even weirder fact to consider when you realize that the men of The Bachelorette have ages that skewer far older than 21 and 22.

This season, the ladies come in at an average age of 25. While an age gap in an adult relationship should really only matter to the two people in it, it’s kind of refreshing to see Colton dating more women who don’t look like they were just seniors in high school (although, for the record, the minimum age requirement for contestants on the show is 21). It will almost definitely change the dynamic of the season.

Hey, we’ll welcome any kind of exciting new development. A change of pace is needed occasionally in every franchise and this could be a really promising one.

If nothing else, Colton’s upcoming birthday sounds like a really good reason to host a celebratory Bachelor viewing party. Mark your calendars, order some of those famous hot dogs from Bachelor in Paradise and get your view on!
