Bachelorette contestant Lincoln Adim was recently convicted of aggravated indecent assault and battery. Here’s what Chris Harrison has to say …

We figured Bachelorette contestant Lincoln Adim to show up on the Men Tell All on Monday night, but many fans though host Chris Harrison would at least address the situation. Lincoln was convicted of aggravated indecent assault and battery in May for a crime that happened in 2016 – one year before he became a Bachelorette contestant.

The Bachelorette episodes Adim appeared in were still airing when he was convicted, but producers failed to cut him out of the show. We get it — editing is only easy when you’re trying to manipulate what contestant say/do.

Once Reality Steve and former Bachelor contestant Ashley Spivey made it know that Lincoln was convicted, fans wondered how producers failed to see an arrest and/or pending court case when they did their contestant background checks.

ABC issued a weak statement, noting that they use a “well-respected and highly experienced third party” to do “nationwide background checks” on contestants.

After that, there was total silence about Lincoln and some fans wondered if he would show up on the Men Tell All to explain the situation.

Chris Harrison finally speaks out

Chris did not address the Lincoln situation on the Bachelorette Men Tell All. Instead, he focused on Colton’s virginity and helped Jason campaign for the next Bachelor.

Instead, the Bachelorette host talked to Glamour about Lincoln, and explained why he didn’t mention him during the Men Tell All.

“First of all, Lincoln was not invited and not welcome here. What he did was illegal and against the law, so that is a very easy call … There was no chance he was coming here tonight, no chance I wanted to talk to him or hear his side, because there is no side. What he did was commit a crime. That’s a very easy answer. As far as dealing with it, we wanted [Men Tell All] to remain about Becca, about the guys, and about this journey. And going there…this wasn’t the time or place. There really isn’t much to explain about Lincoln other than he lied, he deceived, he committed a crime, he’s not here, and he’s removed from the show and the franchise.”

In other words, the whole situation was a bad look for the franchise, so they didn’t discuss the show’s total failure to do a thorough background check.

Going forward, let’s hope ABC hires a firm that does better background checks (including social media) so this doesn’t happen again.
