Bachelor Arie wins most unemotional proposal award — and what about that cold breakup?

Chris Harrison can’t stop talking about the “dramatic” The Bachelor season finale. We can’t stop talking about how Arie’s proposal was such a force. And how about that cold-as-ice breakup?

When Bachelor Arie Luyendyk proposed to Becca Kufrin on the Bachelor season finale, it was a red flag of things to come. The whole season was a sleeper, so there is no doubt producers encouraged Arie to break up with Becca on camera. But what about his proposal — it was obvious Arie wasn’t excited to get engaged. SO, why did he do it?

Good ratings are a really big deal for ABC. That’s why Chris Harrison has been promoting the hell out of the two-night finale. And keep this in mind — we’re not done with the drama just yet. The After the Final Rose special scheduled to air on Tuesday night (March 6) will feature more incredibly boring conversations about Arie’s indecisions. And another engagement. And – finally – some good news for Becca.

First, let’s discuss the moment when Arie proposed to Becca

Poor girl. Her first proposal and it was void of any emotion. Is Arie a robot?

I can’t remember exactly what Arie said because I was busy opening another box ‘o wine, but it went something like this…

“Hey, you look nice. You’re really cool and I love you lots. Becca, will you marry me?”

“Yes!”

“Okay, here’s a nice ring from Neil Lane. In a few weeks you’ll want to throw it at me, but don’t break it. I need to save it for Lauren.”

Romance isn’t Arie’s specialty. What a dull proposal. Obviously, he wasn’t feeling it. Maybe producers told him he should propose because fans love a happy ending.

Actually, that’s wrong — we like an honest ending and we definitely didn’t get all the feels with Arie’s chilly proposal.

The breakup from hell

Chris Harrison was SO excited to let us know we would be watching Arie and Becca’s breakup UN-EDITED, RAW, and by way of TWO CAMERAS.

That was brutal. The silence was uncomfortable. Arie didn’t know what to say. No surprise there!

If you were getting a snack when Arie broke the news to Becca, here’s what we think he said…

“Hi Becca. You look nice. Remember that ring I gave you a few weeks ago? I need it back. I was just kidding when I said I wanted to marry you. I’m sorry, I’m super-bad at this stuff. Like, I don’t even know how to dress, so how does anyone expect me to get this engagement stuff right? So, can we still be friends, or nah?”

Eeek. That whole scene was ridiculous. Arie was walking around the house aimlessly. Becca was crying with no tears (we get it, girl, you were actually relieved!). Every so often, Arie would sit down and look at his fingers. Something to do, I supposed.

Did Arie cry? Nope. Did Arie show any remorse? Not really. He said “I’m sorry” 20,000 times and then realized it was time to catch a flight to Virginia to tell Lauren he found a ring in his pocket with her name on it.

A second proposal

Arie isn’t great when it comes to showing his emotions, but he’s a pro at handing out diamond rings. Get ready for another proposal on Tuesday night’s AFTR.

More from Accept This Rose

Reality Steve reports cameras were on the scene at a beach in Dana Point, California in late February — Arie showed up with Lauren and asked her to marry him.  The footage will be shown during the ATFR on Tuesday night. At least that’s what we’re hearing.

Why didn’t Arie propose to Lauren at the final rose ceremony? Maybe producers talked him into proposing to Becca knowing it wouldn’t last.

After all, his breakup with Becca stirred up plenty of chatter online and that means better ratings.

It also gives Becca a great backstory…

Finally, some good news

At this point, all we care about is finding Becca Kufrin a great guy. Someone who gets down on one knee and proposes to her in an emotional, cute, funny, heartfelt kinda way.

According to ABC, the next Bachelorette will be introduced on Tuesday’s After the Final Rose. We’re fairly certain (like 101% sure) that Becca will be handing out roses in May.

Stay tuned!
