Bachelor Arie enjoys Twitter reaction to his season, even the negative tweets
By Ruby Maxwell
Bachelor Nation tweets non-stop during the show on Monday nights and Arie Luyendyk loves every minute of it, even if fans aren’t always kind.
Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr says he isn’t really into social media but is enjoying fans’ reaction to his season, especially on Twitter. He knows it’s not all positive, but the 36-year-old race car driver doesn’t seem to mind, telling Us Weekly he likes all of the comments about the show — the “good, bad, and funny.”
Clearly, Arie has a sense of humor because some of the tweets and memes about the Bachelor star and his ladies are hilarious. But the lead — and the contestants — also need to have thick skin because some fans take things a bit too far, sending out mean tweets that take away from the fun of the show.
Yes, it’s supposed to be a show about finding love, but it’s also entertainment. Unfortunately, some fans get so invested that they turn into Twitter bullies. But Arie is taking it all in stride, stating that the comments he reads are “great” and he used to enjoy poking fun at the show before he was the Bachelor.
“It’s really fun to see everyone’s reaction to it on Twitter and see how they are accepting the show,” Arie tells Us Weekly. “I was that same person on Twitter, you know, poking fun at the last couple of seasons.”
Arie goes on to say that he thinks the early weeks of the show are all about poking fun at what goes on in the Bachelor mansion. The serious stuff comes later on in the season when he has to make his final pick.
If you aren’t on Twitter when the Bachelor airs on Monday night, you’re missing out.
