There will be plenty of tears shed during Arie Luyendyk’s season of The Bachelor. His ex-girlfriend explains how Arie deals with drama.

Imagine a season of The Bachelor without girls in tears over a guy they just met? Girl fights, backstabbing and crying about the man who holds the roses is what gets fans talking, but it’s a total turn-off for Arie Luyendyk.

Or at least that’s what one of his ex-girlfriends leads us to believe. Courtney Robertson, who had an ongoing “thing” with Arie for years (friends with benefits?), says Arie doesn’t “react well” to girls crying.

Oh, and there’s something else he doesn’t like.

Being called out.

We assume she means Arie, 36, likes to be complimented, not criticized. As in, “You’re the hottest Bachelor ever” from a 22-year-old contestant?

In a recent issue of Us Weekly, Robertson, who won the final rose on Ben Flajnik’s season of The Bachelor, said that Arie relies on “affection” to deal with the tears and drama. (AKA – kissing)

“He doesn’t react well to being called out. Or women crying,” Courtney tells Us, noting that he is “very passionate” and, as she’s mentioned numerous times, “the best kisser.”

And he has another way of dealing with drama — something he may not have been able to do while he was filming the Bachelor.

In a previous interview with Us, Arie admitted that, in the past, if there was any conflict in his relationship, he would go on a racing trip to brush off the drama.

Can’t really walk away from filming a show to escape conflict. Guess he went to his go-to move of kissing the girls to make the tears stop.

But, now that he’s done filming and living in the semi-real world, does that mean he will pack up and go racing if he has an argument with the girl he picks?

Being in the spotlight can put a lot of pressure on a new Bachelor couple’s relationship, as evidenced by the numerous post-rose ceremony breakups.

But, Courtney thinks Arie is ready to settle down. Maybe he will deal with the tears head on, instead of trying to make them go away by leaving town.

“He hasn’t given up on it [racing]. Whoever he picks should be ready to travel with him,” Courtney tells Us. “He’s ready to settle down. He is very capable of a committed relationship.”

Watch The Bachelor on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
