The Bachelorette Season 19 cruise ship takes a small ride over from Bruges, Belgium to Amsterdam for the next leg of their international love story. This episode has Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey focusing on who they want to take to hometowns next week.

Let’s find out what happened in Amsterdam and the week leading up to hometown dates on The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 6

The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 6 recap

1) Tiptoeing through the tulips

Gabby and Rachel opened the episode discussing their journey thus far and the big decisions they have to make before hometowns next week. This is a big decision for both Bachelorettes as it becomes real and even more important once you involve the families.

Gabby seemed to be pretty distracted in her thoughts about this week which foreshadowed it would be an interesting episode. The ladies kicked things off with one-on-one dates, with Gabby choosing Nate again and Rachel choosing Zach again. This left many of the guys back on the ship questioning why they haven’t gotten a one-on-one yet while others are getting their second.

Gabby has serious reservations about being a mom and said she had a lot of personal healing to do before she could become a mom. So Nate’s one-on-one date didn’t go as well as he thought it would. They have a nice walk before Gabby spills the news to him.

She immediately started sobbing; you could tell it wasn’t fake show drama. She legitly was devastated that she had to send him home, but as she said, they are in two different places in life. Although she had deep and serious feelings for Nate, she had to let him go because she wasn’t ready.

As Gabby departs on a sad boat ride, Rachel has a date with Zach in the tulip fields of Amsterdam. What’s funny is that Nate and Gabby talked about them before their breakup. Now for what seems like the first time on The Bachelorette Season 19, Rachel is having a great time while Gabby is the one crying. Rachel and Zach ride bikes in the countryside and visit farmstands, sampling the country’s goods. As they soak in a hot tub amongst the tulips, Zach says that he is ready for Rachel to meet his family.

The couple went to a cathedral for a romantic dinner and shared insights about their previous relationships and life journey. Zach talked about his troubled past and what made him who he is today. He also tells Rachel he is falling in love with her, and she responds with a long kiss. I think the feelings are mutual but too soon to tell from Rachel.

2) Sites and Sounds of Amsterdam

Gabby visited with the rest of her guys and told them what happened with Nate. She woke up the next morning still upset with the decision but knew it had to be made. She still holds the group date as her group of five men sought to make a final impression before their hometowns. I don’t think the guys knew what to expect when they walked in and realized they would talk about sex. They get into some interesting questions as “Susie” asks the hard questions right off the bat. Then they get into some “exercises” with Gabby exploring their sexuality with each other.

The cocktail party was much more relaxed back on the cruise ship. As the men sit around and wait for Gabby, they realize Logan isn’t there. Jesse goes and talks to Gabby and says that Logan tested positive for COVID-19. As Gabby and Jesse have a conversation, the cameraman awkwardly backs up. Out of an abundance of caution they elect to cancel the cocktail party, but Jesse doesn’t tell the guys that Logan has COVID, only that something has happened to him. Now the tensions are high as a hometown date hangs in the balance, and as Gabby said, she needed to talk to the guys to make her final decision.

Next up was Rachel’s group date, where her group of four men raced to her in Amsterdam since Zach had the one-on-one. They tour the cheese capital of the world. As the guys each try to steal Rachel for a moment, they group back up to participate in the cheese market games. The guys must hold stacks of wheeled cheese on their shoulders to impress Rachel. Tino won that competition and was named the Cheese King.

At the cocktail party, the guys each made their last pitch to Rachel on why she should meet their families next week. As each guy moves on to Rachel in the end, Tyler joins Zach as two of Rachel’s men for the hometown dates. Tino was set on getting the rose and was visibly upset when he didn’t. He started complaining to the crew that he didn’t get a rose. Did he not realize he could still be given a rose at the ceremony? As of late, Tino has had a mean streak in him, and it’s starting to show.

3) Rose to Hometowns

As Gabby and Rachel prepare for their last rose ceremony before hometown dates on The Bachelorette Season 19, the guys know tensions are high as things will get serious after this. Gabby not having a group date has a lot more to think about after not getting a chance to talk to the guys before the ceremony.

Gabby has four guys in person, one waiting, but only three roses. Gabby explained that she doesn’t feel comfortable meeting four guys’ families, only three. Her first rose went to Erich, who graciously accepted. Jason was the next to receive a rose leaving Spencer, Johnny, and Logan vying for the final rose. In the end, Gabby gives it to Johnny, sending Spencer and Logan home.

Now it was Rachel’s turn. With Zach and Tyler already getting a rose, two men out of Aven, Ethan, and Tino, would get roses. First to receive a rose from Rachel was Aven. He accepted, which left Ethan and Tino. Honestly, I felt Ethan was always on the outs, and both Aven and Tino would get roses. In the end, Rachel gives her final rose to Tino in the most anti-climatic moment of this season. Everyone had to know Tino or even Aven would get a rose over Ethan.
