Now that the first rose ceremony of The Bachelorette Season 19 is in the books, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia dive deeper into their relationships with the men. They want the guys to start deciding which Bachelorette to go after as they go on more one-on-one dates.

This episode featured a massive group date, but let’s find out what else happened!

The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 3 recap

1) Red Carpet Debut

The first one-on-one date of The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 3 went to Rachel who chose Zach, the 25-year-old tech executive from Anaheim Hills, California. Karamo Brown, the host of Queer Eye, one of Rachel’s favorite TV hosts, met the couple at their first stop on their date. He crafted this special date, featuring wardrobe changes and a special movie premiere with the full red carpet experience. The two try on outfits until landing on the perfect red carpet attire.

Back at the mansion, Gabby drops in on the guys and tries to get to know them more. However, they briefly talk to her before returning to their daily activities of throwing the football and complementing each other’s attire. Nobody included Gabby in the conversation, so she ended up leaving while the men missed an opportunity to deepen their relationship.

Rachel and Zach arrive at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood for their special movie premiere. After posing for pictures, the two stroll in to get an early screening of the movie Me & You. However, what they find is something even better. Me & You was a collective of pictures and videos from their children and families. They watched together as they experienced what life was like for each other. A strong connection was made between these two as they danced to a piano accompaniment. Zach admits in his interview that he is falling for Rachel after the date. He accepted her rose graciously.

2) Threes a Crowd

Erich received the date card for Gabby’s one-on-one date in The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 3 that mentioned threes a crowd. Who was going to be the third person? Gabby picked up Erich from the mansion and invited the third member of their date to the house, Granpa John! Grandpa is back by popular demand in sat in on Gabby’s second one-on-one date. The trio attended a sound bath and focused on their intentions for this journey.

After that tranquil setting, the trio went to a bowling alley to continue their date. Gabby found a date for her grandpa, and the group split into teams. Gabby seems to be having a good time as she and Erich share a kiss reminiscent of their teenage years. Gabby and Erich continue their date with a romantic dinner. They open up about their families, and Gabby takes a moment to discuss her estranged relationship with her mother. Erich was left alone, sitting at the table. He talked about his strong relationship with both of his parents and couldn’t relate to Gabby.

Gabby returned to the table, and the two shared a moment. They walked away from that conversation feeling more sure of each other and their relationship. Erich gladly accepted the rose from Gabby. Who knows where Grandpa John is after his date at the bowling alley.

3) Photoshoot Bachelorette Style

The massive group date was as advertised. The men dressed up in costumes to act out scenes for a photoshoot. The Bachelorettes posed with the men in various scenarios, including a plane, hospital, and car wash. Then in the big finale, the men get their first shot at proposing to the women on The Bachelorette Season 19. The guys give it their best shot, but Nate, the 33-year-old electrical engineer from Chicago, Illinois, stole the show with a heartfelt proposal.

The afterparty occurred at So-Fi stadium, home to the reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. The Bachelorettes get to know the men more on the 50-yard line with a picnic. As the night progressed well for Rachel, three guys told Gabby they were here for Rachel instead. This included Tyler, the 25-year-old small business owner from Wildwood, New Jersey, Hayden, the 29-year-old leisure executive from Tampa, Florida, and Jacob, the 27-year-old mortgage broker from Scottsdale, Arizona.

Rachel gave out her group date rose to Aven, the 28-year-old sales executive from San Diego, California, who had a great time at the photo shoot and an even better time with Rachel during the afterparty. Gabby elected not to give out a rose after having several men, noted above, tell her they weren’t here for her.

4) The Great Divide

As the men prepare for the rose ceremony, Jesse addresses the room and tells the men that the Bachelorettes have canceled the cocktail party, and heads straight to the rose ceremony. Also, they decided to split the men so Rachel and Gabby would have a group of men devoted to building a relationship with them and that group alone. This is one of the biggest moments on The Bachelorette Season 19. Many knew this day was coming, but it was now realized.

Both women entered the rose ceremony with separate pedestals of roses, ready to give out to the men of their choice. Rachel, who had already given roses to Aven and Zach, gave roses to Tino, Logan, Tyler, Jordan H, Ethan, and Hayden. Termanye, the 28-year-old crypto guy from Naperville, Illinois, was the first guy of the night to refuse a rose that Rachel offered.

Jesse came in after to clarify a rule. After declining a rose, the man will go back into the crowd, waiting to see if Gabby will offer him a rose. Since Termanye refused the rose, Rachel can also not give that rose out to anyone else. This is a double-negative for both because Termanye risks going home if Gabby doesn’t choose him, and now Rachel can’t hand out that rose. Alec refuses Rachel’s next rose, which results in another lost rose for Rachel. Meatball refused Rachel’s rose as well.

Gabby, who had already given a rose to Erich, gave roses to Nate, Johnny, Spencer, Jason, Mario, Quincey, and Michael. That meant that Meatball, Termanye, Alec, and Jacob went packing. Or did they? In the post-credits, Meatball goes up to Rachel and asks if they could continue their relationship. Then the episode closed. Stay tuned to see what happens between Meatball and Rachel…and the rest of the men.
