We know it’s never fun to see your favorite contestant on The Bachelorette not have enough time to spend with the leading lady, but after last night’s episode, some appear to be extremely upset that season 17 contestant Hunter Montgomery was hogging up all the time with Katie Thurston despite already receiving a rose.

Katie Thurston defends Hunter Montgomery

It’s widely known that our season 17 leading lady is no stranger to letting everyone know how she feels. After last week’s episode where she called out Thomas Jacobs for his ill intentions, it was made clear that Katie does not stand for any type of unkindness, even from fans.

She tweeted: “Remember you only get to see a portion of who these men are. For example, you probably didn’t know Hunter has #Tourettes. So I encourage everyone to think twice before commenting negative things about these men. #TheBachelorette.”

Once she posted this heartfelt message, fans were sympathetic and agreed to refrain from making such harsh comments about contestants who they only know through a TV screen. One reply stated, “OMG. I had no idea. You’re right. We only see pieces of them & the show can edit it to show one side,” which seemed to be the overall consensus for most fans underneath the tweet.

In regards to how Hunter himself feels about the negative comments, he seemingly wasn’t too pleased to be the butt of mean remarks, taking to his Instagram Story to clear up some misconceptions and to comment on his Tourette’s. You can see a screenshot of his message here.

In addition to this, he admirably opened up, as reported by Bachelor Nation, about his battles with addiction, which makes Katie’s tweet even more pronounced. He shared an emotional Instagram post which you can see here.
