What religion does Ivan from The Bachelorette follow? He explains his split from Tayshia
Last night marked the finale of The Bachelorette season 16, and though many of us knew it was looking like Zac Clark would ultimately win Tayshia Adams’ last rose–as well as an engagement–it was still shocking to see the way things went down.
For starters, Ben Smith came back during Monday night’s episode, and last night, Tayshia decided she would allow him back for the next rose ceremony. With three men and two roses, she was clearly in a tough spot. And to the surprise of many, she decided to take
away for a talk. Of course, we all knew what that meant–she was sending him home.
But the most confusing part of all was when Tayshia explained why she decided Ivan wasn’t the man for her. She stated that when they were able to talk about their future during their overnight date, they didn’t align on a few things. It was super vague, and the only topic Tayshia shared was that they weren’t on the same page when it came to religion.
What was the religion issue with Ivan on The Bachelorette?
Fans watching at home had no idea what to make of the explanation. We knew that Tayshia was a religious person, but we didn’t think that she would end a relationship over it.
Well, fortunately, Ivan is here to clear it all up. The former contestant joined Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick for the Off The Vine podcast, where he revealed what happened between him and Tayshia.
When Kaitlyn asked what the whole religion thing was about, Ivan shared, “I knew we were going to have to talk about it eventually because I could tell that she was, at least, that she was Christian, but we hadn’t talked about it in the past.”
He went on to say that Tayshia asked him during the Fantasy Suites what he thought about raising children to be religious, which is when Ivan told her that he was Agnostic. He told her that if they were to have kids together and they asked about heaven or hell, he would tell them that he doesn’t know. He did, however, say that he would be fine with Tayshia taking the kids to church.
Ivan also explained that he’s dated women who were Christian and Muslim before, and that he mostly values similar morals over the same religion.
“It is what it is and I don’t blame her for it,” Ivan was sure to clarify.
What religion does Tayshia follow?
As Ivan confirmed on Kaitlyn’s podcast, Tayshia follows the religion of Christianity. In the end, that was just something she wasn’t willing to compromise for.
We respect both Tayshia and Ivan’s beliefs, and are glad they were able to split on good terms.
