Nick Viall praises Zac and Ben for their vulnerable Bachelorette moments
By FS staff
After some very emotional (and unexpected) moments last night, Nick Viall is showing a couple contestants some well-deserved love and support on social media. And he’s not the only one.
Entertainment Tonight has even called what transpired in last night’s show “the most emotional episode in Bachelor franchise history.” So it’s no surprise that the always outspoken Nick Viall felt the need to speak up about what happened.
Nick tweeted, “I know ‘sad’ stories are thought of as a right of passage on this show, but neither Zac or Ben had to be that honest on National TV and by doing so brought awareness to real issues and inspiration for overcoming them. Bravo.” Agreed.
In case you missed it, Zac opened up during a one-on-one date, sharing everything from his battle with a brain tumor to his past addiction struggles, explaining to Tayshia why he’s sober and revealing some of the darkest parts of his past. Tayshia responded by thanking him for being so candid, adding that she knew there was more to Zac because she “just sensed it.”
Then, during a group date, Ben also opened up to Tayshia, revealing that he had dealt with an eating disorder for 15 years. The contestant started out by saying the life he’d lived was “different” than Tayshia or anyone else “might assume.”
Ben shared, “I don’t want to lay all this on you, but the reason I’m in fitness and nutrition… I had an eating disorder for 15 years.”
After Ben’s vulnerable reveal, Tayshia admitted to the cameras, “That’s a heavy one, and I’m sure he was scared,” adding, “Him opening up about something so deep and personal meant a lot. And honestly, my feelings are intensifying for these guys in ways I never expected.”
The truth can be a very powerful thing. Undoubtedly, it was their vulnerability with Tayshia–and in front of millions of viewers at home–that ultimately won Zac and Ben a rose this time around. Zac received the one-on-one date rose, and Ben scored the group date rose. It goes without saying, both were well deserved.
