The Bachelorette Season 16, Episode 1 Worst Moment #2: Tyler C. and Yosef

Night One always serves up a healthy dose of drama, but perhaps due to the built-in pandemic drama, this premiere didn’t have the usual extra amount. However, there was one situation that is “worst moment” material due to what I felt was an extremely unfair resolution! Naturally, I am talking about Tyler C. and Yosef. To recap: Tyler C. had received a message from a mutual friend detailing questionable behavior by Yosef. Allegedly, Yosef had been sending romantic messages to a girl after he was signed up to go on this season. Tyler calmly approached Yosef about it, Yosef calmly denied it, and that was all there was to it.

Just kidding! Of course, production had to capitalize on this (very non-dramatic) situation. They had Clare force the two men to sit down with her so they could all talk it out. This was so forced it was painful to watch. Do any of us really think it was Tyler C’s idea to bring this up to Yosef in the first place? Could it not be left to the two men to settle, as they both seemed very comfortable with? Is sending a message to a girl months before he even met Clare really a big deal? For all the believable drama that naturally occurs on The Bachelorette, do they really need to force things like this?

Worst of all, Tyler C. ended up going home while Yosef was allowed to continue the journey. It’s hard to believe Clare really wanted to keep either of them, but why not keep both? Or neither? It was just so sad hearing Tyler’s parting words. It was clear he didn’t really know what happened and was an unwitting production pawn. Farewell, Tyler. Hope to see you on Paradise!
