The Bachelor Season 20’s most infamous moment–I love you two…er too.
The Bachelor Season 20 put Ben Higgins in the driving seat of his journey towards finding love. There were all sorts of twists and turns along the way but perhaps nothing was more unexpected than the infamous “I love you” times two moment(s).
We didn’t quite expect Ben to reciprocate the feelings of his final two contestants, JoJo Fletcher and Lauren Bushnell, but he did. Oh, he so did. And it certainly made for some awkward, uncomfortable conversations in the finale. Well, at least for JoJo, who was not at the receiving end of that Neil Lane engagement ring when all was said and done.
Coming up on this Monday’s The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons Ever, the retrospective series will be looking back at The Bachelor Season 20. And we can all but guarantee we will be reliving this moment before the end of the three hours. I mean, they can’t not show it.
So, he loves both of them? Really?
At the time, it was the first time in Bachelor history ever that a contestant went as far as saying ‘I love you’ to more than one contestant. In the days since, well the phrase has been thrown around to more than one individual quite a bit on the shows. But for the time, it was quite controversial and one of those O-M-G moments you’ll never quite forget.
And for as much as people loved dear ‘ol adorable Ben Higgins, we were all shook to our core during The Bachelor Season 20. Like, how could you do that, Ben?! What were you thinking?!
Well, luckily for us, a PEOPLE exclusive gives us a sneak peek of Monday’s night episode of The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons Ever which dives into this very moment. But the best part about it? As soon as that infamous moment between JoJo and Ben and Lauren and Ben is shown, we cut to the present day where JoJo is ready to be interviewed by Chris Harrison.
Her reaction? “Oh, dear lordy.” Dear lordy, indeed.
It’s definitely going to be an interesting trip down memory lane, and one that I’m sure all parties involved can look back and laugh at now. I mean, Ben Higgins is happily engaged to girlfriend Jess Clarke, JoJo is engaged to Jordan Rodgers, the finalist from her season of The Bachelorette, and Lauren Bushnell is now happily married to country singer, Chris Lane.
So, while Ben Higgins may have made a big “oops” during The Bachelor Season 20, I’d like to think that things ended up just fine. But, it doesn’t mean we can’t look back and laugh and cringe at it though (and luckily, we will be doing that tomorrow night!).
Do you recall this staple moment in Bachelor Nation history? I mean, can we ever really forget?
