The Bachelor: Peter Weber and Madison Prewett are officially over

And just two days after The Bachelor season 24 finale, Peter Weber and Madison Prewett call it quits.

Bachelor Nation, are we surprised by this? I mean, are we really surprised by it? I would just like to preface this by saying, that regardless of anything, I would have loved to see the relationship work. At the end of the day, two people in love is a beautiful thing, and it would have been nice to see that all of this was worth it.

Unfortunately, it’s been just two days since The Bachelor finale, and both Weber and Prewett just took to their social media to announce, things are officially over between them. If you watched the finale, then you have an inkling as to why this relationship is over as quickly as it is.

During “After The Final Rose”, Weber’s mother, Barbara, did not hold back her feelings about Madison. In fact, her facial expressions made it clear that she was not Team Madison at all. And in the two days since then, the Internet has flipped out about how Barbara treated Madison on live television.

The people who once loved and found humor in Barbara’s more than enthusiastic involvement, are now completely against her. And they’re not to blame. She was pretty savage, and there’s no way of sugarcoating that, whether you agree with her or not. I personally didn’t think it was fair to do it on live television.

Just two days after Weber and Prewett sort of decided to move forward with whatever they were doing, things have come to a complete dead stop. If this was under normal circumstances, I’d say, sure, this makes total sense. But given what has transpired in the days since the Bachelor finale, it’s pretty heartbreaking.

Many will say that the relationship was never going to work, others will immediately point a finger at Barbara for being a bit too involved in her son’s life, which come on, she sort of is. But that’s beside the point.

Listen, I’ll be the first to tell you that Peter was a horrible Bachelor who made poor decisions and screwed Hannah Ann over with his indecisiveness. It wasn’t fair what he did, and I am still trying to process his behavior.

But what sucks is that he will have a difficult time ever finding happiness and love with any girl if this is how involved his mother truly is. We witnessed firsthand how he didn’t really defend Madison’s honor as Barbara was reaming her with insults. It was a sight no one wanted to see.

At the end of the day, it’s likely Peter and Madison decided to part ways amicably, at least that’s what their Instagram posts reveal. But we know better than that. We know that the pressure of the Weber family hatred towards Madison and the world’s response to it was just one of many obstacles the couple would have to face.

And if we’ve learned anything about Pilot Pete, is that he is a mama’s boy. I don’t think he was ever going to go against her wishes, and this is proof of that. He’s just too close to his family. I mean, we’ve all seen that Weber family photo with matching white outfits right?

Regardless of how bad things played out, our hearts go out to the relationship that ended before it really started. We wish both Peter and Madison the best in each of their lives, and maybe, when things have calmed down, he can potentially #BringHerHome instead.
