In what comes as a jarring and shocking turn of events, sadly, another Bachelor in Paradise couple announced their split.

On the heels of another Bachelor in Paradise breakupBiP couple Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone, whose wedding we just saw on the show’s sixth season, have separated after 8 months of marriage.

This news hits hard, Bachelor Nation, as it’s the beginnings of what would be the first divorce to come out of the franchise. Moreover, unlike previous breakups, there weren’t many social media inklings that indicated murky waters.

The couple announced their separation late Friday night in an exclusive statement to Bachelor Nation:

"It hurts to announce that at this moment, we have mutually decided to separate. Never did we imagine this scenario, but we’ve come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves. We are best friends that love and care for each other so deeply. We’ve appreciated everyone’s love and support so far throughout our journey and we just ask that you please respect our privacy as we navigate through this."

There have been some scandals, however, surrounding the couple as of late. As you may recall, Jade Roper was stripped of a $1,000,000 prize won in a fantasy football contest via DraftKings after allegations of collusion with husband, Tanner Tolbert, were brought forth.

For those who don’t follow football, fantasy football entails drafting an imaginary team composed of players from all NFL teams; each week, you set a lineup of your “best” team and points are awarded based on each individual player’s performance.

In essence, the contest allowed one to enter multiple lineups in order to come out on top, but not exceeding 150 total lineups; the rules explicitly prohibit collusion between individuals. Basically, Jade and Tanner each submitted 150 lineups, and 298 of their 300 lineups were found to be unique – which indicated collusion under one household.

Why is this relevant? Chris Randone helped point a suspicious finger at the couple after accidentally congratulating Tanner on Twitter, rather than Jade, the actual supposed winner. The tweet was feverishly deleted.

His involvement in the scandal may have soured the relationship with Nielson. Of note, Randone, sadly, indicated he received death threats as a result of his felicitations. If the couple was already on the rocks, this certainly would not have helped.

Further, Nielson quite recently came out on record calling The Bachelor a toxic environment. She detailed to Us Weekly how she wouldn’t ever want her kids to join the show, “because [it] feels like such a toxic environment they’re in.”

Krystal emphasized the new wave of internet sleuthing, and how “seeing all this stuff come up for all the contestants now, like, blasts from the past [means] anything could be exposed on this show now, especially with how they are leaking everyone earlier.” In light of this news, the above commentary by Nielson certainly raises some flags.

This split is quite sad, and here’s hoping the best for the two individuals moving forward.
