Another Bachelor in Paradise love story bites the dust.
Bachelor in Paradise couple Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton have officially called it quits. Sigh, let’s all take a moment of silence to mourn the loss of their relationship. If you were following along during the most recent season of Bachelor in Paradise, then you know that Morton and Bukowski’s relationship was never an easy one.
In fact, despite leaving the island engaged, when we caught up with them during the “After the Rose” finale special, they seemed to be a hot mess. I was certain news of their breakup would make the rounds immediately after, but things seemed to find some stable ground for a bit.
But just this week, both Morton and Bukowski shared the sad news that they have decided to part ways and remain, friends, much like Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty. This leaves just one remaining couple from the Bachelor in Paradise season 6 finale–Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barbour. Please let them be happy forever, please?
While speaking with Dean Unglert and Jared Haibon on iHeart Media’s Help! I Suck at Dating, Morton opened up about the breakup with Bukowski and how it’s impacted her life in the days since.
"There was a lot of distance. We had some good times when we would see each other, but it was few and far between. I think it comes down to effort on both ends. Actually, right now, I feel really at peace. I’m happy about that. I think that the struggle was more within. Now I’m like, at peace. I don’t know how to explain that."
I mean, we saw just how bad things were during the Bachelor in Paradise finale, so I’m not that shocked. There seemed to be some distance there and it looked like Morton was the one putting in all the effort. What really happened, we may never find out, but if both individuals are better off, that is all we can really ask for.
"I’ve been trying to change my mindset and have a lot of gratitude because I’ve learned a lot about what I want specifically and what I don’t want specifically. I have taken a lot of time for myself. I go to therapy all the time. I’m a big believer in it. I’ve amped up my self-care, which I thought I had nailed down my whole life. When you’re in a relationship or you feel like you might not be getting what you want or need, instead of asking that from the other person, I started asking that myself. I started fulfilling my own needs. I’m okay."
Bachelor Nation fans are pretty much immune to the round of breakups that follow every show, especially Bachelor in Paradise, given the number of relationships that come out of it. I’m sad that of the three, we’ve lost two already, but it is what it is.
At the end of the day, everyone should be happy, and just because they have the pressure of the world watching their every move shouldn’t have to mean they need to stay together, right?
