Watch what you say in interviews! Recent Bachelor Colton Underwood has come under fire for comments he made about women’s period panties.

We’re used to seeing The Bachelor in the news for a wide variety of things. Whether it’s for the drama of a recent episode, a juicy feud or dating rumors, we happily click away at the newest and latest word of the day. So now recent Bach Colton Underwood is making headlines. . . but it’s for a pretty random comment he made.

Colton recently appeared in a teaser for the Lady Gang show, where he made waves for saying that his fiancee, Cassie Randolph, had chosen to return their engagement ring (read about that here). Now that the full show has been released, it’s clear that Colton wasn’t holding anything back that day. He went on to comment on everything from nude photos to pubic hair. Most importantly, though, he made a very controversial comment about what women should do with the underwear that gets dirty while they’re on their period.

"You keep ’em around? Go buy new underwear. Throw them away, and go buy new underwear. Throw them away. I as a husband and a boyfriend will go buy you new underwear. That is so gross. So if you sh*t your pants, are you just going to wash them? No, you’re throwing them away."

Colton Underwood almost immediately came under fire for the comments. Listeners have called him “insensitive” and many fans have pointed out that he seems grossly ignorant of the cost of monthly pairs of new panties.

And, to a degree, these fans are right. Colton definitely came off as a little ignorant when it comes to the female struggle. Perhaps he should have taken a pause before volunteering his opinions on the subject.

All that being said, we definitely shouldn’t crucify the guy. In the age of the #MeToo movement, these are far from the least offensive comments that are floating around the internet. Colton’s words seemed to reflect far more insensitivity than hate or superiority.

Besides, Colton Underwood has never exactly branded himself as the “in the know” Bachelor. For crying out loud, his whole shtick on the show was how he was an innocent virgin! Hopefully Cassie Randolph can get him trained up and showing a little more respect in future interviews.
