Who is Cam Ayala? We saw him nab the first rose on ATFR, now learn more about this contestant’s past before The Bachelorette.

It’s that time of year again! We start scrutinizing each of the new contestants from The Bachelorette before they ever even storm the mansion. While Hannah Brown’s men have already made plenty of waves online, there’s one stand out that everyone wants to know a little more about: Cam Ayala.

Remember this guy? He came on After the Final Rose, where Hannah chose to give him her first rose of the season. We know he likes to rap on screen, but what is he like off camera?

Unfortunately for us, social media snooping is difficult at this point. Cam’s Instagram account is set to private. We can only see his bio, which reads “Good Vibez Only.” Thankfully, that’s not the only internet sleuthing we can do.

Detectives AKA Bachelor super fans have discovered that despite his good boy, Southern gentleman demeanor during AFTR, Cam Ayala has a record. This is nothing new for Hannah’s season (check out this contestant). OK! Magazine confirms that he went to jail during college for marijuana possession and the “manufacture or delivery of controlled substance in a drug free zone.” Apparently he went by the alias “Poppa Smurf” during his bad boy days. Will this come up during a one-on-one with Hannah?

By now, it’s common knowledge that Hannah prides herself on her Christian faith. Heck, another one of the contestants on the show has actually said that this was the specific reason he wanted to pursue her. Will Cam’s drug use–if it comes out on The Bachelorette–taint him in her eyes? This has got to be a worry for him.

The other major thing to know about Cam Ayala is that he’s a Texas A&M alum. Again, this harks back to those southern roots. Is a reformed lifestyle and a shared cultural background enough to win over the heart of the Bachelorette? We can’t wait to find out!
