Why the heck didn’t The Bachelor Colton try to figure out why so many women were giving him warnings last week? Chris Harrison was as baffled as us.

On The Bachelor, we all get used to a little bit of backstabbing and undercutting. It happens every season! On Colton Underwood’s season, though, we’re getting some particularly shady exits: more than a few former contestants have warned him outright that they think there are current competitors who aren’t in it for “the right reasons.”

What was Colton’s reaction to this news though? He stormed off! He acted hurt and confused, but seemingly refused to get to the root of the problem.

According to an interview with Entertainment Tonight, it sounds like The Bachelor host Chris Harrison was just as baffled by Colton’s reaction as many of us were.

He commented, “How did Colton not stop her and go, ‘Can you just whisper it in my ear? Can I get names?'”Harrison was exceedingly confused by why the Bachelor wouldn’t take the opportunity to get all the dirt. After all, he suggests, what would a contestant who is already on their way out have to lose from simply throwing the bad seeds under the bus?

He’s right in suggesting that Colton didn’t really put any work into discovering the truth. It seems pretty childish to have an on-camera freak-out and shed some tears when there’s an opportunity to ease your mind right in front of you.

On the other hand, though, Harrison might be wrong in suggesting that the contestants who are leaving have no other real recourse but to tell the truth. Picture this: if a contestant leaves on a sour note and her rival gets to stay on The Bachelor, it seems only natural that the bitter girl who gets the ax would throw the other woman under the bus. It’s not exactly admirable, but it definitely seems possible.
