The Bachelor episode 2 reaction: Maybe Demi is the villain?
Our first real episode of The Bachelor showcased Demi as our villain this season. Additionally, the theme of Colton’s virginity sadly continues.
We’ve successfully had our first real episode of The Bachelor this season! Thank you, ABC producers and our lord and savior, Chris Harrison.
With the ladies all moved into the mansion and an unnecessary home video of Colton greeting the day shirtless in bed, it was time for the glorious carnage of group dates to commence. The first squad of lucky contestants made their way, with champagne in hand, to a downtown LA theater which is always a great sign of awkwardness to come.
They approached the stage and were surprised to find power couple, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, ready to share their stories of their first times. (Honestly, I’m not convinced that any of the girls actually knew who the fabulous pair was.) This episode could have ended here because I would have been happy watching these two make Colton uncomfortable with sex puns for days. But, alas, we had to see the ladies recite their own personal “first” stories to a crowd of poor souls who willingly subjected themselves to this.
There were sappy love stories, some attempts at being funny and there was Demi aggressively attacking Colton’s face with her mouth in a successful although questionable first kiss. Calm down, killer. Despite this obnoxious display, redhead “older woman” Elyse received this date’s rose which was a victory for 75% of the show’s viewing population.
Group date #2 was a camp theme complete with team challenges and matching outfits for our Camp Bachelor crew and Billy Eichner showed up to act as a judge only to ask Colton what we’ve all been wondering: “Are you sure you aren’t gay?” I laughed way too hard at this comment which says a lot about how little I’m invested in Colton’s journey to find a wife.
The losers were sent home leaving the winners to sleepover at Camp Bachelor with Colton. Scandalous! In what was a shock to no one except the ladies themselves, girls and golden boy stayed in separate bunks so no canoodling (i.e. heavy makeouts and maybe something over the pants) could occur.
Colton’s one-on one date was with Hannah B. and what an awkward date it was. Minimal talking left me confused at how Hannah passed the interview portions of her pageant days to become Miss Alabama. And when she did speak up, the topic was once again Colton’s lack of experience. I was bored, but Roll Tide remains with us for another week.
Our friend, Demi showed up to the rose ceremony cocktail party wearing a robe and lured Colton up to her lair, AKA closet, for a “This is your future!” back massage. Tracy cried a lot, Oneyka was loud, and Catherine, who appeared to be our villain last week, caused no trouble. We were left cliff hanger free this week so it’s on to the next!
