27. Contestants Often Become Involved With Producers
All those long, lonely nights can be tough – especially when contestants aren’t spending time with the one they want. Often those feelings can get confused with the producers, since they’re the people spending the most time in the house.
It’s not uncommon for relationships to spark up between the women in the house and the male producers. Jamie Otis remembers a moment from her stint from season 16. According to her, it happens all the time.
“One day, I was the first interview and the ‘interview room’ was being set up in a producer’s hotel room. I headed down to that floor, and when the doors opened, I bumped right into that producer and one of the contestants.” She remembers, “Her hair and make up were a mess, and she was in the same dress as the night before. Her face turned bright red—total giveaway that something scandalous had gone down! There are more of these producer/contestant relationships than viewers realize—they’re always kept hush-hush.”
In fact, Rozlyn Papas was sent home for her alleged affair with a producer. While she denies it, Chris Harrison told People, “She had a physical relationship with a producer on our show. You cannot do that. There is no gray area … Other girls on the show saw it. The producer confessed more than once and to more than one person. I cannot make it any clearer.”
If the people are there to find love, and it doesn’t work out with the star of the show, I guess it’s not such a reach to realize they could find it with someone else. Of course, “love” might not really be what happens with the producers. I wonder how many “winners” have also spent nights with the people working behind the scenes?
