28. Rose Ceremonies Can Last All Night

I know you’ve noticed those women standing in the daylight, in their party dresses, crying for the cameras about their disappointment. Part of it is getting cut, but most of it is probably sheer exhaustion. Oh and they’re all very, very drunk.

The rose ceremonies are reportedly brutally long. They start at a normal time, but they “cocktail party” portion of the night can sometimes go until 4 or 5 AM. The whole time, producers are plying the girls with more and more booze, and force the to interact with each in the hopes someone will have a break down. And don’t they always?

Some sources say that the show will announce the rose ceremony only an hour or so before the taping begins – at 7 in the morning – so the girls only have a enough time to touch up their hair and make up and take a disco nap.

This means by the time their name is (or isn’t) called, they have been on their feet for more than 12 hours, they’re blotto drunk, and completely exhausted. No wonder they fall apart in their exit interviews. Can you even begin to imagine how badly their feet hurt after standing around in those ridiculous heels all night. It’s a wonder there haven’t been more instances of physical violence in those first few episodes. They’ve just been through a freaking nightmare and they don’t even get a wedding out of it.
