I just have to get this out of the way: No Bachelor Mansion? Heartbreaking.

I mean, I get it. A family actually lives there, and there’s only so long they will be okay with being pushed out of their home on a bi-yearly basis. Not to mention the use of the mansion for The Golden Bachelor(ette) now, too!

As far as the premiere of Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette: Night One delivered! It was a game of truth or dare, including streaking, the splits, and some uncomfortable questions. A love virgin. A heavily bandaged man.

Let’s get to the best and worst moments of The Bachelorette Season 21 premiere!

1. Best moment: Thomas Talk

Thomas N., the Vietnamese swimmer from Georgia, sat down to talk with Jenn partway through night one.

This was a rare example of a good night one conversation!

They were actually finishing each other’s sentences. A rarity!

It was so precious when they talked about how they can’t wait to teach their kids Vietnamese.

Jenn said, “Thomas definitely saw a different side of me that not a lot of people can see.”

That says a lot!

2. Worst moment: Jonathan's hidden face

I will never understand the trope of “a contestant hides his face, until he doesn’t.” I guess the point is that he’s really good looking and doesn’t want to lead with that?

It feels to me like it has the opposite effect- the whole conversation then becomes about his looks: wondering what he looks like, finally getting to see his face, then talking about how good looking his face is.

It was fun watching Jenn unwind the bandages, I admit. There was certainly some suspense! But it was just much ado about nothing.

Overall, this was a nice Bachelorette premiere! It felt like there was a lot of camaraderie amongst the men, more than usual for night one.

Jenn was a great listener (big part of the job) and it seems like she will be a great Bachelorette this season!
