Normally, we're going for the most dramatic season ever, but this time around, ABC went above and beyond to give us one of the messiest finales to date.

Now that we have had a few days to process the chaos and hot mess that was The Bachelorette Season 21 finale let's recap everything that went down during those very difficult three hours. It has been a while since we have seen things take a turn the way they did for Jenn during her season.

I honestly do not know where to start because my heart breaks for Jenn, who came into the competition just as everyone else does but left brokenhearted. The brokenheartedness is a combination of what Devin Strader did to her, but it also goes hand-in-hand with ABC deciding to go about things the way they did. They had the audience watch the proposal back while Jenn watched it back with Devin right next to her. It was quite cruel, and even if she has come out and said she wanted to watch it, to quote her own words, "Do I have a choice?".

It's difficult to comprehend how all of this went down and why it went down the way it did, but it was messy--plain and simple.

What happened during The Bachelorette Season 21 finale?

We won't get into all the minute details of that difficult night as, by now, most of us know what took place during the finale. Long story short, Jenn and Devin left the series engaged. Jenn even took it upon herself to change things up and do something no Bachelorette has ever done before--be the one to propose. What was supposed to be a sweet and thoughtful gesture, turned into Jenn's heartbreak.

Shortly after their engagement and filming wrapping, Jenn and Devin's relationship took a turn, according to the former Bachelorette. Devin became absent and distant, and essentially started saying things contrary to what we saw him express on the show.

Jenn shared the following during the After the Final Rose special:

“He basically said that he didn’t love me anymore and didn’t feel the same way. He denied ever being in love.… He was checked out. It wasn’t what he wanted anymore.”

If fans thought that was going to be the worst of it--it wasn't.

Following their breakup, Devin got back onto social media, specifically Instagram, and followed Maria Georgas. Maria, according to her own admission, was supposed to be the Bachelorette turned it down. This paved the path for Jenn to step in, but it seems like Devin was amongst those contestants that were hoping Maria was the lead. So taking all of that into consideration, one can see why Jenn was so upset during the special when she called Devin out for this.

What stoked the flames to this fire was the video of Maria and Jeremy Simon (also a contestant on Jenn's season) that has been making the rounds. They were seen out clubbing in New York City but Devin was not in this video, but it is being implied through Jenn's claims and many fans that Devin was indeed there or up to no good in some capacity instead of processing the breakup as he told Jenn he was.

With all of this in mind, however, one might be wondering, is there actually something going between Devin and Maria?

While Maria and Jeremy have hung out, it appears that Maria and Devin have not. Maria herself took to social media to debunk all the rumors and theories and gave her support to Jenn for everything she had gone through. She also was sure to mention that things taken out of context can be detrimental to others, in reference to Jenn stating that Devin followed Maria on Instagram, etc. She cleared the air and said that she did not follow Devin back and would not be doing so even after the finale.

Furthermore, Maria has made it clear that she doesn't want much do to with the Bachelor Nation franchise and would not be heading to Bachelor in Paradise next summer.

So there you have it Bachelor Nation--Maria has spoken, Jenn has spoken, and the only one left to say anything that makes sense is Devin himself. It is unclear if he plans to, at least beyond what was said during the finale special, anyway. The only thing we have seen are fans posting videos of Devin out and about a couple weeks before The Bachelorette finale aired with another woman.

It has all culminated in the universal understanding--Devin did not keep "the main thing, the main thing."
