Is the marriage of the first-ever Bachelorette couple in jeopardy? Due to a series of posts from Ryan Sutter, Bachelor Nation sure did think so.
Earlier this month, circa Mother's Day, Sutter posted on social media that he and Trista's kids would not be spending Mother's Day with the family's leading lady. He followed up with another post around May 18th: "I want to be there for you. But I can’t. And that’s ok cause I know you need this time – time to discover yourself again.”
All signs point to a separation, perhaps? Well, not exactly.
After what was probably a series of concerned messages for the couple, Sutter clarified his post the following day, trying to inform everyone that he and Trista are indeed fine.
“Trista is fine. We are fine. We’re great. Trista is at a place in life where she is searching a bit. An opportunity presented itself that may help her on that quest. With her family’s support, she has taken it. Part of that process means that she is temporarily inaccessible to us,” shared Sutter.
Are we sure she didn't just go on another reality show? Like Special Forces or something?
Trista and Ryan Sutter clarify the cryptic posts that have Bachelor Nation concerned
Eventually, things were clarified (more or less), when Trista decided to post to her social media. After seeing the barrage of rumors that were circulating all over the place, the first-ever Bachelorette joked about the chaos that it caused.
“Geez people. Can’t a girl have a nervous breakdown/trial separation/midlife crisis/death/divorce in peace around here?!,” said Trista in a post over the weekend.
You sure can, Mrs. Sutter!
She continued, “In all seriousness, for those concerned, I’m safe and sound, happy and healthy, in love and grateful,” she added. “For those who’d rather focus on being critical and searching way too hard for darkness, good luck with that.”
Of course, being in the limelight, especially of reality television, makes it hard to stay anonymous as well as post cryptic things without everyone looking into it. It took one post from Ryan Sutter to cause a cascade of rumors that implied the couple was separated.
But it looks like all is well in their world, at least according to their recent social media posts which show them together as a couple and as a family.
Ryan and Trista tied the knot as the first-ever Bachelorette couple in a televised ceremony on December 6, 2003. They have been married for almost 21 years and have two kids, a son and a daughter.
