At the beginning of the live season finale of The Golden Bachelor on November 30, host Jesse Palmer teased that the episode would end with an announcement that would leave Bachelor Nation stunned. We anticipated that announcement might be a tease about The Golden Bachelorette finally becoming a reality. But ABC had something entirely different up its sleeve.
The Golden Bachelor season 1 might be complete, but ABC isn’t ready to stop telling the love story of Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist! According to Bachelor Nation insider Reality Steve, ABC will be airing a Golden Bachelor wedding special showing Gerry’s wedding to Theresa.
That’s right, it seems ABC is about to bring fans the chance to see Gerry and Theresa exchange their I Dos in a Golden Bachelor wedding special set to come to ABC! The news definitely left us stunned as it’s been quite a while since ABC has aired a Bachelor Nation wedding special.
The wedding special will be airing Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 on ABC, so be sure to save the date!
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist will make Golden Bachelor history
Not only did Gerry and Theresa make history on ABC already becoming the first couple to emerge from The Golden Bachelor, but they’ll make history again when their wedding is aired live on ABC! The move is not entirely surprising given the success of the show which has been a rating hit for ABC.
The season premiere of The Golden Bachelor was watched by nearly 14 million viewers and set a streaming record becoming the most-watched episode of an unscripted series ever on Hulu! Needless to say, America fell in love with the franchise so it makes sense ABC would look to keep the momentum going.
We saw ABC take a similar approach way back in 2003 after Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter found love on the first season of The Bachelorette. After the season’s success, Trista and Ryan took part in ABC’s first-ever television Bachelor Nation wedding with ABC actually rolling out a three-episode event to celebrate the couple’s big day and the days leading up to the ceremony. That special drew more than 17 million viewers and it’s clear ABC is hoping to recreate that magic with its Golden Bachelor wedding special.
