The Golden Bachelor: Susan Noles says she and Gerry were “in the friend zone”

The Golden Bachelor’s Susan Noles may no longer be a contestant on Gerry’s season, but she’s still got plenty to say about him and her experience. Susan quickly became a fan-favorite, not only because of her eerie resemblance to Kris Jenner but because of her fun-loving, silly attitude.
She was the heart of the Bachelor mansion and provided comedic relief along the way. Unfortunately, she didn’t quite hit it off with Gerry as she or he would have hoped. While speaking to PEOPLE, Susan revealed that she and Gerry “were really good friends and in the friend zone.”
Safe to say, the former contestant anticipated she would be going home.

Even though Susan did not find love, she did find a great group of friends. She may not walked away in Gerry’s arms, but it looks like the female friendships she formed were more than she could have asked for.
“I went in with the hopes of falling in love. That’s my main purpose. That’s why I went,” Noles said. “I didn’t realize how many friends I would make and the bonding that I did with people and the support that we all gave each other.”
I absolutely agree with Susan here. One of the best things to come out of The Golden Bachelor has been the bonds these women have created. They’re close in a way that contestants on the other shows are not. Perhaps it is because they are not chasing after social media clout, and they are genuinely there to find love. And if they are not the ones to find it, then they are more than happy to let someone else find it.
I really hope that ABC continues to move forward with more seasons of this show and also decides to do The Golden Bachelorette while they’re at it. I think this has been such a welcome change to the franchise, and contestants like Susan (and many of the others!) make it well worth the watch!
