Bachelor in Paradise Season 9, Episode 1: Best and worst moments
By Julia Wagner
We’re back on the beach! Bachelor in Paradise Season 9(!) premiered Thursday night on ABC, and the premiere offered everything we’ve come to expect from this train wreck of a show.
We got some romantic moments, some truly awkward make out sessions, and the requisite amazing wildlife shots of critters crawling on the beach.
Several fan favorites came to the beach this season, including former Bachelorette Rachel Recchia, former winner Blake Moynes, and a couple people I did not recognize.
Let’s get to the best and worst moments of the Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 premiere!
Bachelor in Paradise Season 9, Episode 1: Worst moment: Sean and Rachel kiss
I admit, I’m kind of biased because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Sean on Charity’s season, but this kiss was so awkward to watch.
The conversation that led up to this kiss was just downright painful:
Rachel: What? What didn’t you say?
Sean: I don’t think it was more about what I didn’t say, it’s more about what I haven’t done.
Rachel: What?
Sean: Kiss you.
Rachel: Are you going to?
Sigh. What happened to kisses just happening naturally? Why do they have to be discussed beforehand?
Bachelor in Paradise Season 9, Episode 1: Best moment: Toe sucking
Olivia and Will meet for the first time, and within minutes Olivia has asked if he wants to suck her toes.
This was strange, but thank goodness for this toe sucking conversation–it provided comic fodder for the entire episode.
Will and Olivia kissed, but he then accepted a date with Kylee. Olivia then spent the night at the beach saying you can’t say you’re going to suck someone’s toes then go on a date with another girl. Wisdom.
The best moment was when Kylee said (about Will and Olivia), “I just want to make sure I’m not stepping on anyone’s toes.”
Amazing.
Paradise is off to an amazingly dramatic start!
