Bachelor in Paradise’s fan-favorite couple, Brandon Jones and Serene Russell, have officially called off their engagement. Fans worldwide were completely heartbroken to learn of this update, given that Brandon and Serene were the perfect couple on the beach last summer.

The ex-couple shared the news on social media with a sad and bittersweet post reflecting on their decision and asking for their privacy during a difficult time. It couldn’t have been an easy decision, especially when your life is in the limelight.

It doesn’t make it any easier that everyone couldn’t get enough of the Bachelor in Paradise lovebirds story. The minute they locked eyes on the beach, it was game over, and it felt like things would end happily ever after.

Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Bachelor in Paradise’s favorite couple parts ways

Brandon and Serene got engaged during the Bachelor in Paradise Season 8 finale in one of the most romantic proposals ever. Brandon spilled his heart out to her, and the two didn’t look back after that.

In the months since their engagement, things appeared to be going well in all the mushy gushy posts they shared on social media. Of course, we don’t always know what is happening behind the scenes. Based on their Instagram post, things ended amicably and with much love.

The couple posted a joint statement of love for one another, stating there was still a lot of love for the other, but ultimately, they couldn’t find a way forward together. “[…] We have tried to work privately on our relationship, which has been incredibly challenging in the public eye. This has been immensely hard to accept and painful, as there is a lot of love between the two of us,” read the Instagram post.

Breakups are rare in Bachelor in Paradise, from which stronger couples emerge than in the other two flagship shows.

Of course, the formula isn’t perfect, and life ultimately gets in the way.
