The Bachelor Season 27, Episode 8 recap
1. Time in Thailand
The final leg of The Bachelor Season 27 takes Zach and the final three women to Thailand, where they will get fully uninterrupted time with Zach on fantasy suite dates. Each woman recapped their journey thus far with The Bachelor before settling into their new digs for the week.
Meanwhile, Zach and host Jesse Palmer settled in for a chat. Jesse mentioned that this is where it all went south for Zach on The Bachelorette Season 19. During this week during Rachel’s season, the quality time together allowed each other to discover hidden truths that were too much to overcome.
During this chat, Zach reiterated that he is implementing the rule of no sex during the week. He called on his time with Sean, who helped him see what was important about this time. He also noted there was no sex on his date with Rachel. He didn’t feel that there should be sex with other women right before an engagement.
2. Ariel’s Fantasy Suite Date
Ariel was the first to receive a fantasy suite date on The Bachelor Season 27. She expressed walking up to the date and how important the physical portion of a relationship was to her. Little did she know that Zach planned to have no sex during the date. The two took a moped carriage tour of the city before landing at a night market.
They were looking forward to running the market and eating weird food. They kicked it off by trying some insects and other strange animal parts. They even did the lady and the tramp scene with a dumpling. The entire time Zach talked about how Ariel made him feel during his side interviews and mentioned how no sex was going to be hard.
The physical portion of their relationship was explored during this date as they couldn’t stop kissing as they toured the market, ate food, and walked a guy play with fire. Meanwhile, the other women at the resort are stressed about his date with Ariel and are nervous about their dates.
Next, Ariel and Zach dined at the White Lotus restaurant in the resort. Ariel talked about how she felt she was still a little reserved after her hometown date and took the opportunity to say she was falling in love with Zach. He lit up as she said this, reiterating how serious love is to him and that he could see a future with Ariel. It sounds like he won’t be saying the L-word until the proposal.
After Ariel read the date card from Jesse about spending the night together, Zach revealed that sex would be off the table for this date. He noted how he feels a physical connection to Ariel but wants to save that special moment for the one after the engagement. Ariel replied that she didn’t like to plan for dates and just let her experience the moment. While disappointed with the decision, she respected it and looked forward to talking the night away with Zach.
They elected to spend the night together as Ariel noted how things would inevitably get hot and steamy, and no one knew what would happen. The producers played heavily into the “sexy” vibe of the date with the music and lighting. The couple dipped in the pool, dried off, and made out some more. This one was going to be tough for The Bachelor.
Waking up the next morning, it seemed they didn’t have sex, and Zach stayed true to his promise. They had a night of discussion and discourse that solidified Zach’s feelings.
