Hometowns are finally here!! Episode 8 of The Bachelor Season 27 had Zach Shallcross back in the US, traveling the country (actually mostly just the East Coast) to meet the families of his final four women in a week full of syrup, speakeasies, and southern charm. And eventually, sadness.
Let’s get to the best and worst moments of hometowns!
The Bachelor Season 27, Episode 8: Best moment: Ariel’s brother
The episode did NOT edit this well (very foreboding music), but I, for one, LOVED Ariel’s brother and his intentional questions, especially when he asked, “Why should Ariel choose YOU?”
Zach said he has a big heart and can cook. So that’s settled.
But the brother didn’t stop there. How do you intend to reconcile our families’ different backgrounds? When is my sister’s birthday? These are the issues! Zach had no answers at all, but it was still fun to see the questions asked.
Honestly, it was the whole family. The dad also hit it out of the park: “Zach said it could be different in a week. So why am I expected to be 100%?” I love European frankness.
I enjoyed seeing Zach under a little bit of pressure. Maybe it gave him some empathy for the insecurity all the women have been feeling all season long!
Also, though— why were they all meeting at a Brooklyn winery? Maybe they didn’t want the show to invade their home. I guess I don’t blame them there.
The Bachelor Season 27, Episode 8: Worst moment of episode 8: Charity’s date
I love a southern Georgia date as much as anyone, but really?? There’s always one hometown date that’s so condescending; this season, it was Charity’s.
It was just beyond obvious Zach was never going to pick her. So watching her friends and family spend so much time and effort getting to know him was pointless.
At least her family was charming, and we got to know Charity a little more before saying goodbye. It kind of seemed like that conversation with her brother primed her for the Bachelorette edit. Southern hospitality never fails!
The Bachelor Season 27 continues tonight!
