The Bachelor Season 27, Episode 7 recap: Magic in the Air
5. Family Matters
Greer had recovered well and finally reunited with Zach and the rest of The Bachelor crew in Budapest after testing negative for COVID. She visited him in his room, and the two talked about how she felt. Greer hoped they could pick up where they left off three weeks ago, but a lot has transpired. Zach echoed these thoughts and noted that they did miss out on valuable time. He also mentioned that he had tough decisions ahead of him, and Greer said he would be someone she would introduce to her parents.
Then the conversation took a turn, and Zach revealed that he had to be 100% in his feelings to give a hometown date but revealed he wasn’t feeling that way with Greer. He tried to assure her that it wasn’t anything she did. She understood where he was coming from and respected his decisions. Fate and time had other plans for these two, and Greer flew to Budapest only to be sent home.
Next up was Brooklyn’s one-on-one date, which took the couple on a city bicycle tour. Surprisingly both struggled to ride a bike but safely made their way to their destination, a hot air balloon. This provided a beautiful picture of Budapest and tested their ability to support each other. Their next stop took them to a Hungarian bathhouse open to the community. People jumped in and out of the spa as other couples enjoyed playing chess.
At dinner, Brooklyn reiterated how important her family was to her and that anyone she wanted a future with would have to meet her family and be approved. She feels so strongly about her family and their importance in her life. Zach had feelings about this and had to take some time to think about where he stood with Brooklyn knowing how much this meant to her. He didn’t want to go on a hometown date if he wasn’t 100% in on Brooklyn. In the end, Zach says that she deserves the love he can’t give her.
While she was upset, Brooklyn appreciated his honesty and his intentions. Zach said he wanted the best for her and hoped she understood and found someone. This decision wasn’t made lightly, as both cried as the SUV pulled away. The rest of The Bachelor Season 27 crew was shocked and moved to tears when they saw someone take Brooklyn’s luggage away.
6. Rose Ceremony
During this episode of The Bachelor Season 27, Zach gave out roses to Kaity and Gabi while sending Greer and Brooklyn home. This left Ariel, Charity, and Kat vying for roses during the ceremony. With only five women remaining, two of whom already had roses, they jumped straight into the ceremony with no cocktail party.
Zach met with Jesse before walking up to the podium and revealed how difficult this decision would be. With two roses to hand out, one woman was going home empty-handed. Before he started handing out roses, Zach discussed the last two women sent home and how the decisions were becoming tougher, and this one would be no different.
Ariel received the first rose, leaving one to be handed out between Charity and Kat. Zach gave the rose to Charity, meaning Kat would go home. Their relationship had taken a turn over the last few weeks, and even Zach noted that something felt off. The group date revealed that Kat sometimes contemplated leaving and wasn’t 100% sure she wanted Zach to meet her family. All of these added up for Zach, who realized that their relationship wasn’t as strong compared to the other women.
Zach walked Kat out, and the two discussed before she boarded the vehicle. He started by apologizing before Kat began asking why he made this decision. He said that while they had a great time in the Bahamas, things seemed off since then, and he couldn’t feel completely confident in their relationship. Kat reiterated that she pushed all she could and revealed more than she had ever revealed to a partner. Zach said that he had to trust his gut and heart and that this was not a knock on her but a decision he had to make.
The couple hugged one last time before Kat drove away. This was another emotional departure for The Bachelor, who had sent three women out of seven home in one week. Jesse was there to comfort Zach as he was dealing with the emotions of sending someone home this late. He even revealed to Jesse that he would have said yes if someone had asked him in the Bahamas if he was ready to meet Kat’s family. However, things had changed, and those feelings weren’t there anymore.
