Zach Shallcross addresses the awkward Greer convo
By Ariba Bhuvad
During last week’s episode of The Bachelor, Zach Shallcross made history by having the first-ever virtual rose ceremony. He also met with each contestant via Zoom to get some one-on-one time.
It was a throwback to COVID lockdown days when we spent hours talking to our friends through video chat. It was odd but felt so familiar, and I commend Zach for coming up with the idea to handle it this way.
But while it may have been an excellent way to talk to contestants while he was in quarantine, the conversation with Greer Blitzer did not go well.
That awkward convo between Greer Blitzer and Zach Shallcross
While Greer was talking to Zach, she tried to relate to him by saying she worked in sales and got COVID at the end of the quarter. Zach did not like what she had to say because he responded by saying, “from me being frustrated on finding my future wife vs. end of sales closed quarter…”
He didn’t appreciate Greer’s comparison and thought it was ridiculous. She even thought it was a good comparison. It wasn’t the best thing to say, but was it that serious? Probably not.
I will give Zach some leeway because he was ill and frustrated from being cooped up at home.
However, he got a lot of backlash for how he responded, and while talking to Variety recently, Zach looked back at the conversation with regret. “I think she was really just trying to connect and relate with me when I had Covid, and really I was just already frustrated with everything kinda, you know, going on. You know, I definitely could have delivered my sentiment in a lot more of a respectful way, in a calmer way,” Zach Shallcross said. “It was just one of those conversations that just was off. No excuse, I should have responded better, so I totally, totally, 100 percent get where she’s coming from.”
At least that is something! I’m glad he realizes it wasn’t like she was trying to be malicious; she was just in a weird place and trying to connect with him. She was trying to make him feel better, and it went very poorly.
Alls well that ends well!
