The Bachelor Season 27, Episode 5 recap: London Calling

The Bachelor is back with a pitstop in London, England on Zach Shallcross’s journey to find true love.

After leaving the Bahamas and hopefully the drama behind them, The Bachelor Season 27 crew looks for love in this historic city. Zach has narrowed the field to 11 women and wants to grow deeper in his relationships.

Some women are starting to separate from the back and have received a lot of quality time with Zach. Kaity had the overnight museum date while Kat took a private yacht ride with The Bachelor in the Bahamas. Charity has also caught Zach’s eye, along with Jess and Greer.

Tough decisions are ahead for Zach, as the cuts don’t get any easier now. Let’s discover what happened in The Bachelor Season 27, Episode 5.

The Bachelor Season 27, Episode 5 recap

1. The Royal Treatment

Zach and the women arrive in London for the second leg of their international journey to find love on The Bachelor Season 27. The women attempted English accents before checking out their digs for the week. Many women hoped their time for a one-on-one would come in this romantic city, especially Greer, who was hoping for a high tea. She loves tea and even has it tatted on her wrist.

Instead, Gabi’s name was on the date card, which read that she was Zach’s queen. A butler showed up in their room and hailed for Gabi. While she departed from the group for her royal adventure, Greer started to take her lack of attention to heart. Meanwhile, the first stop on their royal date journey was to the perfume shop where the scents of the royal family were created. They got to develop their scent, “Zabi,” that Gabi hopes to wear on their wedding day.

The next stop was the royal butler, where they experienced a hand-made queen’s cocktail and a tiara/hat fitting. While enjoying their cocktails, they were greeted by the royal corgi bloodline and rolled around on the floor with the dogs. Later, Gabi put on a fashion show for Zach, trying on dresses made for royalty. Gabi noted that she had never felt more wanted and valued for what she was than with Zach at that moment.

Gabi returned to the rest of the women and showed off all the spoils of her royal treatment with Zach. This didn’t sit well with Greer, who essentially heard her dream date play out right before her. The dress and second date card were enough to put her over the edge, and she had to leave the room. Charity went to comfort her as she overflowed with emotion in the hallway. Gabi felt bad for oversharing but was excited about her date and wanted to share it with the other women. Coincidentally, Greer was crying in front of Gabi’s room, where she had to enter to put away all the gifts Zach got her on her date. Ouch.

2. Start of Something New

Gabi, adorned in her magnificent blue dress, and Zach attended dinner to cap off their royal treatment date. They bonded over their shared experience that day and how it’s nice to get dressed up and pampered, but they can still appreciate the real them. Gabi reiterated that it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, and some days she’ll be without makeup and in sweatpants.

Zach made her feel special on this date, and they both talked about how the little things are essential in a relationship. They both discussed that in previous relationships, they lost themselves and that the little things were missing. This date was so much more than an expensive date between these two.

Meanwhile, another date card was being read at The Bachelor Season 27 hotel with all the women hoping they were not on it. It was a group date, and as women heard their names called, they grimaced. The one person that didn’t grimace was Charity, who, by process of elimination, would be going on the final one-on-one date for this week. Going on the group date, Mercedes felt unseen and hyperventilated as the emotions took control.

Back at the dinner, Gabi said she wanted a partner to be with her through thick and thin. This date was a first step towards that with Zach. He noted that he didn’t know the future but was extremely excited to get to know her more. Gabi accepted the rose, and the two sealed the deal with a kiss. They finished the date with a dance to UB40’s Falling In Love With You rendition. Arguably the best date of The Bachelor Season 27 thus far.
