Susie Evans and Clayton Echard had a whirlwind romance on The Bachelor Season 26. While it eventually brought them together, they didn’t last that long as a couple. An all too familiar break-up made the news shortly after they got together as a couple, to no one’s surprise.

Sadly, the flagship shows have very little success regarding couples staying together. Bachelor in Paradise has a higher success rate, and we know why–it just makes more sense!

In any case, Susie Evans and Clayton Echard called it quits just recently, but it looks like they are on fairly good terms now. Susie spoke with PEOPLE recently, sharing that a sweet message from Clayton helped smooth things over.

Where are Susie Evans and Clayton Echard now?

During her interview, Susie shared she got a “beautiful message” from Clayton. After breaking up, they decided to keep some distance between them to help them work through the pain. They came to that agreement together, and it was something Susie really appreciated about Clayton.

“I really respected that,” Susie shared. “And then, like about a month ago, he reached out [with a] beautiful message thanking me for how wonderful the relationship was for him, how good of a place he’s in now. And so it was really nice.”

And according to Ms. Susie Evans, she has talked to Clayton as recently as this week, and they are on great terms. They’ve decided to cut out the radio silence as Clayton has shared that he can be friends with her now. They had a great conversation and seem to be on the friend track (if that is possible!).

As for Susie’s current relationship status? Well, she’s dipping her toes back in the dating pool and has met a nice guy recently. She shared she isn’t sure if she’s ready to jump back into a relationship, but things have been going well with this new guy, so who knows?

Time will tell, but in the meantime, she’s enjoying life and even helping Clayton out with his new book.
