Split week has arrived at the beach on Bachelor in Paradise Season 8! The women will need to hand out their roses before being sent away and replaced by new women. Yep, it is time for the infamous “F**k you, Jesse Palmer!”
I feel like I have said this for the past three episodes, but the men are still competing for a rose as the women have yet to hand out their first set of roses. Men like Michael, Justin, and Casey struggle to find connections after their women have either moved on or left the show entirely. Several women have also self-eliminated, putting the numbers at seven women to 12 men.
Let’s find out what happened in episode 6!
Bachelor in Paradise Season 8, Episode 6 recap
1. Finally, the Rose Ceremony
Finally, we have reached the women’s first rose ceremony! Although the numbers are not in the men’s favor, they make final pleas to try to get a rose. Some couples are starting to form, but none are as strong as Serene and Brandon’s. However, some are not as strong, with Shanae currently involved in a love triangle with James and Logan.
Twelve men to seven women in Bachelor Nation math meant five men would leave the beach at the night’s end. Logan pulled Shanae aside first, and she pointed out that she was still wearing his lucky beads. They kissed, and then she moved on to James, who took her on a blindfolded tour of different shrimp. They end their culinary journey with a kiss, and the heat is on Shanae to pick between the two.
2. Stirring the Pot
Elsewhere on the beach, Casey made a last-ditch effort to win over Brittany, telling her that Peter was spreading rumors about her calling her a clout-chaser. She asked Andrew about this, and he said he wasn’t sure and said, “that boy Casey!” Brittany can’t let it go and decides to confront Peter about this. She confronted him, and it did not go well.
She went back to the group and told them he accused her of clout chasing but that she wanted to put it behind her. He said that his biggest regret was taking her on the date. Jill has had enough at this point and confronts Peter with Brittany and says he should just leave now because no woman will give him a rose tonight. Casey was starting to realize that he had stirred the pot too much and started feeling faint. Then he passed out at the bar.
The medics were called in, and Casey abruptly left the beach in an ambulance. He not only passed out but also injured his ankle. The men (Aaron, James, Jacob, and later Logan) decided to confront Peter in hopes he would leave, and he did. But not before plugging his pizza business, of course. While Casey’s injury was truly upsetting, the beach is now two men lighter, leaving the total at seven women and ten men.
Andrew capitalized on the drama and decided to pull Brittany aside. The two shared a moment and afterward just lay together in a cabana. It seems like Andrew may be safe tonight.
3. Miracle in Mexico?
As Michael and Justin are reminiscing on their time on the show, Michael pleads with the Bachelor gods for a miracle. Danielle walked down the stairs to the beach on cue as an answered prayer for Michael. Wells may have put this together behind the scenes as he is friends with Danielle and thought she and Michael would be a good match.
The two went off and seemed like they were already a leg up on their relationship. However, Michael came off as super desperate and a little overpowering for Danielle, especially for just arriving on Bachelor in Paradise. She seemed interested in him but not as much as Michael was interested in her.
A storm was brewing on the horizon as the women prepared for their first rose ceremony. The usual couples went first, Serene and Brandon, Lace and Rodney, Genevieve and Aaron, and Jill and Jacob. Shanae was up next and gave it to Logan, signaling that James would likely be sent home. Victoria picked Johnny, followed by Brittany, who picked Andrew. Danielle had the final rose and could choose from James, Michael, or Justin. She, of course, chose Michael, and he accepted graciously.
This meant the bromance was broken up but Aaron was happy to see Michael get another chance. On the other hand, Justin is still hoping his person is out there. Now that everyone is paired up again, a twist is bound to happen.
4. First Time for Everything
The morning after the rose ceremony, a date card was revealed, and it was for Danielle. She, of course, asked Michael to go with her. Danielle was on Bachelor in Paradise Season 4 but never went on a date. On the other hand, Michael has not been on a date in a very long time.
The two have talked to each other over messages sharing the commonality of losing a lover. While Michael lost his wife 11 years ago, Danielle lost her fiance. This shared experience should help them understand and relate to each other better. The two boarded a yacht and took a ride out on the ocean.
While most back at the beach are excited for Michael, Andrew doubts if Michael is ready to find love and finally move on. On the yacht, the couple started a deep discussion about what they were looking for in a partner. He then starts to get in his head and doesn’t know if he feels the same way about Danielle that he felt about his wife. The conversation seemed to stall after that.
The conversation seemed to heat back up when they went out to dinner. They had another deep conversation about shared experiences of losing a loved one and the trauma they still go through today because of it. The important piece of this conversation was the agreement that it is best to move on and that their former partners would want them to be happy in the end. They capped off their dinner with a romantic kiss electing to let love in again.
5. Bad News Jesse
Back on the beach, Jesse called a group meeting. This is never good. He started the meeting by discussing the couples and how far along they were. This is where the bombshell is dropped. He revealed that the ladies would be packing their bags and living away from the property for a week.
This is a time to test their relationship and see which ones are built to last. Bachelor in Paradise is all about exploring relationships and finding the right one. This will test that. Five women made their way up the beach as Jesse went over the details.
Let the madness begin! The current women are sent away, and the five new women, Kate, Eliza, Jessenia, Sarah, and Florence, start to mingle with the remaining men. The current women did not take this move well. They started to pack their bags and contemplated remaining on the show. Serene and Victoria weren’t worried because they were confident in their relationships. Everyone else was freaking out.
The men didn’t hesitate to talk to the new women and started feeling out of relationships. Rodney gravitated towards Eliza; Jacob was just testing the waters with everyone. This will be interesting to see how both sides react.
While the women are upset now, the teasers for tomorrow’s episode show that they will get a visit from 5 new men who make they stay a little more enjoyable once they get to the hotel.
