Bachelor in Paradise Season 8, Episode 4 recap: Starry night
The men are on edge with the women on the verge of their first rose ceremony on Bachelor in Paradise. Rodney was a new addition at the end of the last episode and was set on taking Teddi on a date before she left the show. Where does that leave Rodney? Where does that leave Andrew? Where does that leave Teddi?
Will the women have their rose ceremony tonight, or will their first ceremony drag out for three episodes? Hopefully, tonight we head in the right direction as the remaining nine women hand out roses to the now 12 men. Let’s find out what happened in episode 4!
Bachelor in Paradise Season 8, Episode 4 recap
1. Back at the Beach
The beach picked up where it left off last week, with Teddi leaving and Rodney without a date. Lace honed in on Rodney, and the two shared a very intense moment on the beach. What an odd couple. Even their companions on the beach felt the pairing was odd.
Jarod and Ashley are still on the beach, sharing some alone time. They hit the boom boom room for the first time in their Bachelor in Paradise journey. The rest of the beach was wondering about their journey and how they got there. Time for another storytime with Wells!
He recounted their journey from their instant connection, to Claire Crawley, to a proposal on season 5. Ashley even had a date with Wells to try to get back at Jarod for going after Claire. Now is their time in Paradise to experience all the Boom Boom room offers. Well, Ashley’s body had something to say about that. After eating the local cuisine, she expelled some toxic gas that ruined the moment.
2. Genevieve Love Triangle
Meanwhile, the double date is still going on. Shanae and Genevieve went out with Aaron and James. The quartet finally made their way back to the beach, hand in hand. After describing such a fun date, Genevieve found Justin so they could discuss the day’s events. Genevieve said she thought Aaron was bro-y but found a different side of him on this date. She said she felt wanted and special for the first time on the island. Their conversation quickly took a bad turn, and they got down to counting kisses.
Justin said that this is how the journey on the beach goes. You don’t always find someone on night one and then stay with them the rest of the show. Genevieve hugged him and wished him a happy birthday. Justin wanted a little bit more and asked for a kiss on his birthday since he kissed Genevieve on her birthday. Aaron watched as the two started to make out. Genevieve is caught in a love triangle, folks, the second on this season of Bachelor in Paradise.
She went to find Aaron to apologize for kissing Justin. He was taking a shower, but Genevieve waited until he was finished to talk with him. Aaron asked her point blank if she knew it would hurt him, why did she do it? She retold her conversation with Justin to Aaron, and he said that Justin asking for a kiss on his birthday was manipulative and controlling. Aaron, in the end, told her he liked her and wanted to be there for her. He wanted her to go to bed worry-free and know he would still be there in the morning. The two kissed, and it seemed that Genevieve had decided on which man to pursue.
3. Round Two
The next morning Genevieve found Aaron first and sat by him at breakfast. The two were all over each other, with Justin looking on. Justin pulled Genevieve aside, and the two tried to start their relationship over. As if on repeat, their conversation took a dark turn early. Justin tried to let Genevieve know that he has always tried to be honest with her and didn’t kiss Victoria on their date because he wanted to talk to her first.
Genevieve said he still hasn’t made her feel valued, wanted, and special as Aaron did on night one. He said they might have two different expectations, and Genevieve added that he wasn’t meeting her expectations. Justin said that’s it and Genevieve was solely in Aaron’s corner, leaving Justin without a backup plan.
Shanae and Genevieve had a recap conversation about their date and where they are now. Shanae has a triangle to balance as well between Logan and now James. She felt everything missing from Logan and then some in one date from James. She talked to Logan about this, but instead of trying to win her over, he acted like he had no idea what was going on and didn’t express his feelings for her. Shanae walked away, leaving Logan to question how to win her back. Time is running out for Logan on Bachelor in Paradise.
4. Date Card Mixup?
As Romeo, Justin, and Andrew are looking to build a connection before the rose ceremony, Jill enters the cabana with a date card. As many hoped, it would be their chance to either rekindle a flame or spark a new one instead, the date went to the people who needed it least, Jarod and Ashley.
The two returned to where it all began on the beach they rode the dune buggy on from Bachelor in Paradise Season 2. The two rode jet skis out in the ocean before Ashley had to pee and went freely in the water. The two shared a romantic picnic recapping the last seven years. They go over how their life has changed since meeting each other and the growth and development they’ve experienced along the way. Having a kid has cemented their relationship and allowed them to love deeper. Ashley cried/laughed again before breaking up the romantic moment because her foot fell asleep.
Back on the beach, the young bucks are playing football as Michael and Casey commentate the action. Sierra and Michael are starting to grow their relationship, and even the other women think she is ready to be a mother. Brandon received a date card and, of course, asked Serene to go with him. As they prepare for their date, Michael converses with Wells about Sierra.
He told him it was getting serious quickly, and the two had been able to have serious conversations from the get-go. Michael said it makes him nervous because he wants to ensure she is the one and they aren’t moving too quickly.
5. The IT Couple
Brandon and Serene get their special time together on a one-on-one date. When Brandon saw Serene walking on the beach, he cried—seeing how they showed love for each other inspired others, like Brittany, to find love on the show and trust the process.
The two shared a romantic dinner in the water alone. Finally, they got some private time away from all the drama and noise at the beach. Brandon poured out his love for Serene and recapped all the incredible moments they had had together thus far. Serene returned the favor with her own devotion, recalling Brandon’s little things to show his love for her. They both reveal that they are falling in love, noting that, at this point, they only have eyes for each other.
They share a romantic moment in the pool after dinner. They feel like the real deal and may be the first couple to get engaged on Bachelor in Paradise Season 8.
6. Too Much, Too Fast
On the beach, Michael knows he must have a tough conversation with Sierra. Their relationship is moving quickly, and he doesn’t want to see it fall apart because he is guarded. Sierra pulled him aside, and they looked through a telescope. She revealed that she got him those three stars, and he owns their rights. No matter where he ends up in life, he will always have their memories in the stars.
Michael doesn’t want to hurt people and is trying to protect her from the hurt he is feeling. He has still not come to terms with dating after his wife passed and knows there is a lot of trouble and baggage that comes along with that. He told her they needed to turn down the romantic journey instead of being friends.
Sierra is heartbroken but respects his decision. She doesn’t want to see him date other people, nor does she want to date someone else. Instead, she elected to leave the show. Michael remained but walked her out. Now the women are down to 8 as 12 men remain on Bachelor in Paradise.
7. Setting the Mood
With Sierra leaving, the men scrambled, knowing that one less rose was available. Michael is now a free agent stirring up the pot even more. Casey hopes more women will hit the beach to increase their odds of staying. Jill decided to call the police because some murdered the vibe on Bachelor in Paradise.
Jarod and Ashley returned from their date and were hoping for a little romantic time. As Ashley talked with Wells and got a drink, Jarod left to set the mood. The two were getting ready for some alone time in the boom-boom room, but as Ashley returned, she found Jarod already asleep. They will have to wait a little longer for their special moment on the beach.
There have already been a lot of interesting twists and turns on Bachelor in Paradise Season 8, only four episodes in. Here’s a look back at the most shocking moments from episode 3. What do you think about Michael’s decision to call it quits with Sierra? Should he have left instead of her?
