Paradise is officially underway! Last week kicked off Bachelor in Paradise Season 8 with an interesting cast. Now that they are a night into Paradise and starting to pair up, more people arrive at the beach. Will the relationships last, or will they jump ship?
Drama is already brewing between Romeo, Kira, and Jill, forming the season’s first love triangle. Couples are already forming but will be tested as new singles enter Paradise. Let’s find out what happened when the men got to hand out the first roses.
Bachelor in Paradise Season 8, Episode 2 recap
1. New Addition to the Beach
Victoria Fuller joins the beach to start the episode, previously appearing on The Bachelor Season 24. As she is introduced to the beach, Jesse gives her a date card that she can use to get a leg up on the competition. The men are set to give roses out first, so Victoria needs to make up for the missed time that the other women have had.
Victoria starts pulling men left and right, starting with Logan and Johnny, with whom Shanae and Hunter are trying to start relationships. Next, she pulled Justin, who was already off to a great start with Genevieve. Victoria said she was looking forward to meeting Justin before coming to Bachelor in Paradise. Genevieve started to freak out and thought she was going home. Of course, Victoria asked Justin, and he accepted. Let the drama ensue!
2. The Big Date
Genevieve stopped Justin and Victoria on their way to their date, the second of Bachelor in Paradise Season 8, and talked to Justin. He talked about how they both need to explore relationships and shouldn’t regret their time on the show. She didn’t reveal exactly how she was feeling at that moment, but Justin is the only man she has a relationship with currently.
Victoria and Justin start the date in an offroad vehicle getting down and dirty in the jungle. Back on the beach, Genevieve said that if Justin had feelings or a connection with Victoria, she would leave. Meanwhile, Justin and Victoria ditch the vehicle and go for a walk to a little lagoon and take a dip together. He told her that he felt an instant connection and vibe with Victoria, which doesn’t bode well for Genevieve.
3. Starting to Pair Off
Shanae and Kira are back on the beach talking about who they are interested in. After going over the current couples on Bachelor in Paradise (Andrew and Teddi, Brandon and Serene), they talk about Kira’s approach to the show and her interest in Jacob and Casey. Then they pan to Casey, who reveals he is not interested in Kira. She came off way too strong for him.
Michael, the second oldest man on the beach, seems to be building something with Sierra. Although there is a lot, they need to discuss with him having a son and his wife passing away. He revealed how hard it is to date now and the things he still struggles with. Sierra responded well, and the two had an emotional conversation about these topics. They sealed their conversation with a romantic kiss. These two are building something.
Hailey is having a crisis as Shanae starts to poach her man Logan. As she is talking to Genevieve about this, Logan and Shanae are playing in the ocean in the background. They eventually kiss, and Hailey knows she needs to make a move. She talked with him later, but he didn’t seem very interested. Jacob then walks in with a date card, and everyone hopes they are the one. It turned out to be Shanae’s date, and of course, she asked Logan, and of course, he accepted. Poor Hailey, but honestly, did anyone know who she was?
4. The Big Date (Part 2)
Shanae and Logan went to a club for their date and seemed to have a great time dancing. Hailey talked with Genevieve back on the beach, who is in a similar position to Justin. They both are contemplating their time on the show and how it could be coming to an end. Hailey still talked as if she and Logan had a chance after this date, but he was not interested in her.
Back on the date, Logan and Shanae are talking about their time in their respective seasons and how Shanae is brave for coming back to a show that has some of the women that she feuded with on The Bachelor. They talked about how they can be themselves around each other, and they both seem extremely happy. They shared a kiss and a slow dance to end their date. Maybe they can find love on Bachelor in Paradise?
5. Salley?
Genevieve is determined she is going home and is afraid that Justin will come back in love with Victoria. Meanwhile, in the huts, Lace finds a suitcase with “Salley” on it. Genevieve is freaking out because Salley is from Clayton’s season, but she leaves home before she even meets the other women. She has been off again on again with her fiance, which is why she left Clayton’s season.
They do the only logical thing: open her suitcase and go through it. They find hair extensions, a waffle maker, and a vibrator. Is Salley real? Is she coming? Is it all a ploy? Salley and Justin met in Bachelor Nation and have a pre-existing relationship. Genevieve may leave the show voluntarily at this point.
The ladies go to Wells, and he presents Storytime with Wells, All about Salley. He talked about her journey on Clayton’s season and then how they sent a producer to ensure Salley came to Paradise. They had trouble locating Salley, but eventually, she showed up at the hotel where the producer was staying. She only agreed to go on the show if she could talk to her ex-fiance about it first. She had the producer hide in the trunk of their car for four hours while she talked with her ex. She then decided to go to Paradise after her boyfriend said he didn’t love her anymore.
As they are getting ready to board the plane to Paradise, Salley is on the phone with her ex, that is trying to get her back. She didn’t board the plane with the producer, but her bags were already checked. They brought her bags to the beach, and Wells revealed that she had agreed to come to Paradise, but he didn’t know when. Kira and Genevieve talked about the existing relationship between Justin and Salley. He was all over her at an event and didn’t talk to anyone else. They both predict that if she hits the beach, things will get messy on Bachelor in Paradise.
6. The Return
Justin and Victoria returned from their date, and it’s all smiles. He talked with some other guys, and it seemed the date went well. Genevieve was upset because Justin didn’t immediately greet her first in the morning and didn’t immediately run to her when he returned from his date. The other guys told him she had been moody and pouty since he was gone. He found her, and the two talked about the day’s events.
Genevieve asked how the date went, and he said it was fun. Justin said that this is how the show goes, and he needed to stay open to exploring other relationships. He asked how she was feeling, and she said she was ready to pack it up. Their conversation started to take a bad turn as Justin was noncommittal about what woman he wanted to pursue. Hello, it’s Bachelor in Paradise, people have multiple relationships at once. Genevieve walked away, letting Justin feel what he needed to feel.
7. The Love Square?
Romeo was on the prowl again as he ditched Jill for Brittany. He talked about wanting to explore things with her, and she was not interested. He tried to go in for a kiss, and she swerved him. He is just not the type of guy she is interested in and has too much respect for Jill and all that she has already gone through.
She noted in her side interview that she would rather get hit by a bus than accept a rose from him. Romeo tried to talk to Jill, but she was already over it. He tried to say that they are on Bachelor in Paradise and they need to explore relationships with other people. Well, he might have overdone it at this point. He chased after Jill, but she sent him away, and he proceeded to cry and contemplate his life’s choices in the ocean.
8. Rose Ceremony
We have our first rose ceremony three days into Bachelor in Paradise Season 8. There are 12 women and 9 nine, so three women are packing their bags and going home tonight. Some women have put all their time and energy into one man while others have played the field.
Jesse asks how Romeo feels about Paradise, showing a mixed reaction. He knows he needs to make things right with Jill and sets out to do that before the rose ceremony. Jill was talking to Casey, but Romeo asked if he could butt in. Jill accepts and lets Romeo have it. She lit into him and said that he didn’t deserve to talk to her right now. He asked if he were to give her a rose if she would accept. She said no, he has had so many chances and has blown through all of them. The door is firmly closed, according to Jill, on their relationship.
Wells talked about how Romeo is constantly pounding the bad decision button. He went into panic mode and started talking to everyone he could. He started a conversation with Hailey, who no one else was talking to, and approached Kira about restarting their relationship. Kira said she couldn’t trust him and thought he’s been making many rash decisions. She couldn’t give him an answer as to whether she would accept a rose or not. He broke down in front of Kira after hitting his final straw.
However, we will have to wait one more day to find out who is going home first. The previews for tomorrow’s episode show more people hitting the beach as the drama intensifies in Paradise.
