Bachelor in Paradise Season 8: Is Kira Mengistu a doctor?

Ms. Kira Mengistu–have ya’ll heard of her, Bachelor Nation? If you watched the Season 8 premiere of Bachelor in Paradise this week, then you surely have. Of course, Kira was also on Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor, but you may or may not remember her as she was gone by the third week.

Throwing the beach into a frenzy on night one, Kira immediately found herself in the middle of a love triangle between her, Romeo Alexander, and Jill Chin. This was drama that had begun stirring before the cameras started rolling, which then spilled over into the season.

But perhaps more surprising than Kira’s drama was learning that she is a physician in her day-to-day life. It’s insulting, I know, to be shocked by this, but given the behavior we saw on screen, viewers were flabbergasted to learn this fact about her.

Yes, Kira Mengistu is actually a real doctor

Not only is Kira a doctor, but she is an intelligent, accomplished one! Most recently, she was working as an attending physician for Internal Medicine at Penn Medicine. Prior to that, she was a resident physician at Cambridge in Boston and is licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania.

According to Hollywood Life, Kira went to medical school at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill’s School of Medicine between 2012-2016. She did her undergrad at Harvard University and got her MBA from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

If your jaws have dropped to the floor, trust me, mine has as well. Kira Mengistu is a bada**, despite the drama on the beach!

She was also on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping save lives when the world was grim and difficult to live in. Thank you for your contribution, Kira!

I know we know her in a different life because of the show, but it goes without saying, she is accomplished, intelligent, and has made a name for herself. Perhaps, she’s just not as lucky when it comes to love (here’s to hoping that turns around!).
