The Bachelor Season 27: Zach Shallcross to be the next Bachelor

Zach Shallcross is ABC’s next Bachelor! The official announcement was made during last night’s season finale of The Bachelorette Season 19, which was a doozy in and of itself. But we won’t get into all of that right now because we know our next Bachelor!

Shallcross had quite a dramatic and sad exit from The Bachelorette as he and Rachel Recchia parted ways. But as any Bachelor Nation fan knows, whenever there is an emotional farewell, there is a high probability that you could be in line to be the next lead.

Something just like that happened with Zach Shallcross who is now slated to be the next lead when The Bachelor Season 27 premieres next year. We got a quick sneak peek at his season during last night’s finale of The Bachelorette Season 19, and I must say, we’re in for a treat–I think.

Zach Shallcross is the next Bachelor

During the finale, Shallcross was surprised (or bombarded?) by five women who will be on his season. For the first time in franchise history, viewers voted on “America’s First Impression” rose on Twitter.

A woman by the name of Brianna won the honor and is now safe from eliminations during the season’s first week. I don’t know about anyone else but I love this. I’m convinced that fans might know better than the leads when it comes to decision-making so perhaps this should be a regular occurrence. Thoughts?

Shallcross is 26 years old and from Anaheim Hills, California working as a tech exec. He’s an “old-fashioned romantic” according to his bio on ABC. He lives between Texas and Orange County so it will be interesting to see which women vibe well with that lifestyle.

I’m not sure about anyone else, but I think Zach Shallcross just might be an interesting and entertaining Bachelor. But I’m going to be cautiously optimistic about this!
