The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 9: Best and worst moments
By Julia Wagner
Fantasy Suites are finally here! Monday night’s episode of The Bachelorette Season 19, part one of a two-part Fantasy Suite week, brought us the usual tropical romantic fare with a few twists.
Gabby, Rachel, and their remaining suitors traveled to Riviera Maya, Mexico, for some fun (and not-so-fun moments) in the sun.
Let’s get to the best and worst moments of The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 9!
The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 9: Best moment: Girl chat
I can’t say enough, these girl chats between Gabby and Rachel are much more fulfilling and real-seeming than the usual contestant/host chat.
When Gabby said, “Are those my two favorite things, Rachel and champagne?” it was the cutest thing ever. It’s nice to have these pre-date chats feel like actually relevant parts of the episode, not just things we have to get out of the way.
It felt like the two girls could relate, unlike the host to the contestant, which is why I sincerely hope we have two leads again! It may not have been the most popular choice for the season, but I continue to be a fan.
The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 9: Worst moment: Tino/Jesse chat
Jesse Palmer randomly dropped by Tino’s room for a half-hearted attempt to create extra drama in the episode.
Tino confided that he was struggling, but what is new about this? Tino is struggling, this week is hard, but he said he would stay and see it through.
I’d just much rather see the family stuff hashed out between Tino and Rachel, instead of Tino awkwardly recapping it for Jesse.
Furthermore, it made it impossible to focus on Aven and Rachel’s date, with this man chat spliced throughout.
Sigh. Jesse Palmer is lovely, but we just didn’t need this.
Fantasy Suite dates are a hoot, aren’t they?
